Question about GMC Cars & Trucks
If it cranks over then the issue is probably in the fuel system or ignition switch. For the fuel system I would replace the screen that inside the fuel tank, clean out the fuel tank and replace the inline gas filter. The concept is that debris in the tank is getting sucked into the screen and then once stalled the debris floats back into the tank. If ignition then replace the switch. If it is not cranking over then check the wire from the battery to the starter. I have all 3 happen on difficult cars.

SOURCE: suburban stalls while driving
a bad crank sensor can cause this. shuts off while going down road, and will start about 10 min, later with no problems runs fine until it quits again. hope this helps,

check for codes. If no codes are stored then maybe the idle air control valve is bad, or the air cleaner clamps are loose.. If the clamps were loose or a vacuum hose fell off you should have a code stored. If the IAC is bad it usually will not set a code.

You might have a bad coil pack causing the engine to stall after it gets hot, I would start with changing the coil pack, good luck, Gary

Testimonial: "Good if it works .... will try"
Purchased a new gray Standyne Fuel Solenoid Driver kit with heat sink and extended wire harness. Mounted on left fender well and was able to do the work myself in about an hour. No need for injector pump work. Solved stalling issues and it starts up easier as well. These are all over ebay. Very common issue with this engine, and the GMC knuckleheads knew about it and didn't do anything to educate dealerships on a permanant fix.

On one of the occasions when it won't start back up, someone will need to figure out if you have lost spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors to be able to troubleshoot the problem.
