Question about Cars & Trucks

My C4 Corvette wont allow the heater or the A/C to come on. I replaced the control panel and everything on it works. Temp, blower etc: All fuses check out as OK. What's next in line to check?

Edward,

C4 Corvettes have an Outside Air Temperature sensor which may be faulty. It senses air temp in front of the car and tells the climate control unit (which controls the heat/ac) what the temp outside is. Yours is in front of the grill. It's a $20 part. It looks like the attached link. I'm not sure if this is your issue, but it was on my son's car. I just thought it might give you a direction to check.

I have a 97 Ford Expedition the heater motor is blowing the thermostat checks out good what is my next step to find out why I'm not getting any heat

A couple of things to check. your temp selector lever, knob from cold to hot. make sure it is moving the selector and opening to let hot water into the core.. Check listen for vacuum leak and move the controls for defroster floor etc. and listen to see if they are actuating ..these are usually vacuum operated but some are cables that get stuck at the heater temp valve. Hope this helps mike

Does heater have a fuse

Blower and if you have the automatic temp control the door that controls the temp does have a fuse. If the fuse or door control module is burnt out then the output air will remain the same no matter where you set the temp.

1985 corvette headlight close but wont open

I did mine about 3 year ago, C4 headlights are electric motor driven. Clean the contacts, if they are clean, you will have to replace the gears, it's really not hard, just be sure to clean everything as you re- assemble the motor drive. I used synthetic grease. The drive can be unscrewed from the housing and then changing the gears is easy. Most gear sets have directions with them. I got mine from Corvette Central. (about 50 for the set, replace both gears) Be sure to remove any debris.

Heater not working in 96 chey blazier

1. Check engine coolant.
2. Check heater core.
3. Check electronic control valve.
4. Check thermostat.

The problem lies within one of these four possible issues. =)

Heater blower motor is the proper terminology for this. Best getting it with the fan attached. Said unit is under the hood attached with small bolts to the heater core box on the passenger side firewall. It's the round piece that sticks out and is easily replaced once you have everything out of your way.

No heat

If everything else is working, air direction and selection, blower speeds etc. Then first make sure coolant level is full if it is then make sure your thermostat is opening by watching your temp gauge on the dash and feeling your radiator hoses, both upper and lower, after the car has ran for about 10 minutes or so. Going into the engine they should be fairly close in temp. Then check your heater core for blockage by feeling your heater hoses coming out of the passenger compartment along the firewall in the engine compartment, they also should be fairly close in temp. If one is hot and the other cool then youor heater core is blocked. Also check your blend door, this is the door that controls airflow over your heater core or a/c evaporator in the air distribution compartment. When you move the control you can sometimes hear it moving from inside the car. Otherwise you will have to get up under the dash and listen and look to see if its moving. Hope that helps.

A/c , heater blower not working but a/c & heater are working

No fuse. Newer vehicles have BCM Body Control Modules. Everything is computer controlled. Take it to a shop.

Rear heater blows cold

First thing I'd do is make sure your coolant level at radiator is up to proper level.Your auxiliary heat/cool unit should be in behind the right rear interior panel . (passenger side) If you remove that panel & check the hoses or lines going into it, they should be warm/hot to touch when heat on & engine warmed up to operating temperature. If not, it's most likely a problem with the electronic control, not allowing coolant flow to it, and I'm almost sure that the control cannot be fixed, but needs to be replaced. Triple check all your fuses for heater controls etc, but if everything else is working except the heat part, I'm guessing control at dash needs replacement.
