I have a 97 astro awd chevrolet and when i puy my foot on the gas peddle i hear air coming from the dash board

The part is called the vaccum booster control unit its the power assist for your brakes and is feed from the engine main vacuum . How do the brakes work do you get a surge when you shut the vehicle off while shifting to park with your foot still on the brake pedal The gas pedal would have nothing to do with a vacuum noise from the dash. The olny thing it could would be the booster control unit is leaking engine vacuum. The master brake cylinder it mounted to it under the hood and the brake pedal on the inside is derictly connected to it . It cost like 50 bucks if you get one from a junk yard and the brake lines don't need to be disconneced so you have 6 nuts to remove and the pedal clip for the brake pedal

RX-7 1988 does not have brake lights and blinkers do not work although you can hear the blinker under the dash.

Your Boo switch is open. Look for the brake pedal pivoting point, which is going to be almost under the dash board. The Boo switch is attached to the pedal, you should be able to see the plug and wires going to it. Disconnect the plug and remove the switch from the pedal assembly. Replace it. That should take care of both problems.

I have a 2003 eddie bauer ford expedition, when im driving, i can hear a sound like air coming from a tire under the dash on the drivers side floor area. when i tap on my break the sound goes away, what...

A vacuum leak. Look & listen for hissing noise where rubber or nylon lines come through firewall under dash near brake pedal. Also look under hood at large hose going to back of brake master cylinder, power brake booster.

My power brakes failed and i can hear an air leak,

IF YOUR HEARING IT IN THE CAB YOU MAY HAVE A LEAK AT THE BOOSTER WHERE THE PEDAL ENTERS IT GET UNDER THE DASH AND PRESS THE PEDAL BY HAND AND SEE IF YOU CAN HEAR IT COMING FROM WHERE THE PEDAL ROD GOES INTO THE FIRE WALL

When i step on the brakes the engine idles fast, I think I need to replace my pb booster, is it a tough job?

it should when you push the brake pedal but only for a second or 2. if idles up and stays up then yes its bad, start, push pedal, and put ear under dash and you should hear it **** air. its not too bad, unbolt the master cylinder, has braided steel lines going to abs modulator, flop forward outa the way. undo vacume hose, then go under dash, take out rod to pedal pin, 4 nuts, and pull it out of the firewall. you do not need to bleed brakes if you do not undo a hydraulic line and be delicate with brake light switch on the pedal

If you seem to hear it just under tha dash and seems to lessen or go away when press on pedal then it's the brake booster.

Every thing you need to find for the brakes is under the dash.Easiest way to work on the parts is to remove the instrument cluster(gauges)Its been a while since last did one but part of the dash surround may also have to come off.Let me know if you need more help
