Question about Cars & Trucks
Has anyone had experience with this issue? Local Independent says it is possibly the hydraulic control unit Valve body but is not sure. Had the fluid changed a few months ago for maintenance at 44k, now at 48500. When it does not engage, you feel 2 light thumps, as if it trying to go into reverse. All gears going forward are fine. Thank you all for any info or experience you may share!

P1764 OBD Trouble Code
P1764 the main thing to check is to verify the operation of the VCT solenoid. You're looking for a sticking or stuck VCt solenoid valve caused by contamination. Refer to vehicle specific repair manual to perform component tests for the VCT unit.
P1764 OBD Trouble Code Repair : The sensors receive a 5 volt reference signal from the PCM. As pressure readings change, the sensor varies the voltage and the computer reads that to determine input. In the case of a broken wire, the sensor never sees the voltage and the computer assumes a major fault. So if you get this P1764 code, first check to make sure you're getting a good 5 volt reference signal at the sensor.
