no exhaust brake fitted. why would light go out when depressing the clutch? Both pedals have a switch fitted to them. It's an old truck-1996.Warning light does not affect running.

the exhaust brake may have been removed from the exhaust and a normal manifold fitted
exhaust brakes ( solenoid operated flapper valve in the manifold ) were bad for rusting up, not disengaging and were prettyy much useless in vehicle speed reduction as their main purpose was to slow the engine rpms quickly to give the syncro rings in the gear box a change to work properly
besides that when used to slow a vehicle they were prone to causing burnt exhaust valves as the exhaust heat was retained at the valve head for longer than expected
the light and the switches are an indication that originally it may have had one

What causes the "Reduced Engine Power", "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" warning lights to come on?

the "Reduced Engine Power", problem causes the PCM to disable "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" turning on the warning lights to come on for those systems . The reduced engine power is because of a problem with the electronic throttle control system or as GM calls it TAC system . Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The PCM will turn OFF the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The PCM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the TP, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned OFF.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
• Engine shutdown mode--The PCM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

Reduced engine power

Have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! Do you know what electronic throttle control is ? The gas pedal assembly has electrical connector an sensors inside ,hooked to the PCM / ECM - engine computer . The engine computer uses these position sensors inputs to control the DC motor on the throttle body to open the throttle plate to control the speed . Plus there are position sensors inside the throttle body to input PCM/ECM to see if it's calculations are corect . Your best bet maybe to take it to a qualified repair shop .

Electronic throttle control light

The throttle is a fly by wire type, no more throttle cables, when you press the gas the computer reads that via a throttle pedal sensor and then commands a motor on the engine throttle valve to open the throttle to the desired power setting which it reads through yet another position sensor at the throttle valve on the engine. You have a problem somewhere in the system. What you need now is the dealer to troubleshoot the complex system and find out what is happening that is triggering the warning light for the throttle control..

Hello, Check the wiring at the throttle body on the motor that drives the throttle plate. Wires can be broken inside the insulation or bad contact at the connector.

Warning light comes on when accelerating from a stand-still in 1st / 2nd gear

Hi it sounds like the low water warning light for the windscreen washers, some models have a warning for low level. when you are accelerating the water level is running away from the sender. check the levels and fill up all your water bottles. try after that. hope this is your problem and it is ok.
