2003 chevy trailblazer tach inop

The tachometer in your truck is controlled by the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) module, which recieves engine speed information from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) via the digital communications network in your truck.

There may be an engine control problem that is causing your engine to run rough and cause your tachometer to not operate as well. However, there is no way that the tachometer itself is going to make the engine run poorly. The tachometer has no fuse of its own that does not also affect several other electrical circuits in your truck. Looking for the fuse as a possible fix for your problem is totally useless.

What you need to do is to scan your onboard computer network, incluuding the PCM, BCM, IPC and the ABS modules to see where the problem is located. It may even be a communications network error. There is no way of knowing for sure without establishing communications with the network and interfacing with all of the control modules that use the tachometer signal to perform certain functions.

PLEASE NOTE: Generic OBD code readers CANNOT perform the functions that will be needed to diagnose and repair this problem.

I have a 1997 Chevy Suburban 1500 4X4. the transmission was rebuilt about 3kor 4k ago when I redid the engine. the truck has 183000 miles on it. The issue, when I started the truck this morning the gear...

It is very likely that rebuilding the transmission and/or engine has absolutely NOTHING to do with your current problem. The problems you are describing are electrical in nature. All of the things you are describing are controlled by the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) The speed is calculated by the IPC after receiving vehicle speed information from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and from the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) The IPC also calculates engine RPM based on data received from the PCM. This information is transfered through the class 2 data communications circuits.
In short, your problem could be located in any of these modules or the circuits that network them together. You need to run a full scan of your onboard computer network to locate the cause of the problem.

96 dodge ram 2500 cummings, the tach, cruise, speedodomter not working, and not charging, replace alternator?

I would only assume the alternator is the problem,if there is not enough voltage being supplied, the accessories will not work,or work properly.

Ck eng. light comes on after geting gas code reades Po601

P 0601 = Internal Controller Failure. PCM (Powertrain Control Module) Internal fault condition has been detected.
To clear the Code (and Engine Light) from the PCM use a OBD II Scan tool. If you do not have one, go to an auto parts store. They can hook one up for free. Clear the code using the Scan Tool. It is not recommended to disconnect the battery to clear the PCM Codes, as it will cause the engine to run rough.
If the Code/Light re-appears, there may be a problem with something else.

I have a 92 dodge caravan LE ,the dash lights, gauges, spedo, tach won't work and now the inside lights won't go out,and the power lock button will only unlock the doors, what could be the problem?

the usuall problem on these vans is the bcm which is under the dash and is part of the fuse block assembly. take it out and give the local junk yards in your area a call and have them match the numbers. these are problematic systems. it will probably run you anywhere from $75-$150.

96 ford f150 5 l engine, replaced pcm twice, replaced whole distributor, tested ecc and cps. Fuel pumps tested. Still won't get fire to plugs or run fuel pumps

ecc and fuel pump relays good? when the engine is turning over, does the ck engine light go out? if not the PCM isnt getting a crank sensor signal. Power and grounds all ok at pcm?

1994 f-350 7.3 turbo diesel.tach reading 0 rpm's at idle speed.

yea the 93 to 95 trucks never had a tach that works very long
and first the Tach does not make the od light blink or ck engine lgt
the crank trigger does this little thing is located right in middle front of engine between the vac pump and pwr steering pmp looks like a brass bolt with wires comming out of the back of it costs about 30 bucks (don't forget the locktite blue)
now that should fix the od lights and the ck engine but it may not fix the tach thats done in the tach driver module on back of tach in dash
you can replace this but my vote it's too expensive I did mine just fine with a after market one(50 bucks), bolted it right in front of old one, it hooks up super easy gets it's signal off the alternator stator

im sort of suprized it starts ok with a bad crank trig (eec needs to see +50 rpm to start fuel flow to injectors )

any good shop with a eec scanner can see this in just seconds
