Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Automatic driveway gaate keeps opening and closing. It hits fairly hard and then immediately opens again. It has a battery and continuous charge going into the battery

Not sure of brand, cannot find a name brand on the gate mechanism. Occasionally it works normally, even when it hits.

I have a 2007 golf r32 last weekend the car started and then immediately stopped with immobiliser active reading on the dashboard the battery is fully charged and both keys have new batteries.

Sounds like the tiny transponder in your keys has failed.or dropped.out while your changed /checked batteries. Small glass bead about 2mm diameter and 8mm long. Check where you drooped it ?
Or reset the keys. Driver door open, Key in the ignition, and press.and hold all buttons u.til tiny red light on keys ( pin hole youve probably not noticed before) lights up and flashed to pair after 5seconds press open door. Then close and open again keep driver door open. Repeat with second keys.
Should fix it.

My 2006 Impala has an intermittent loud clicking sound coming from under the dash. It will happen with or without the car running. I am also having trouble keeping charge on my battery.

This is probably the Air Blend Door Actuator. There is a small gear driven motor that opens and closes the various heating and air conditioning vent doors inside the dash. Since you hear it after turning the car off, it is most likely the fresh/recirculating air door, and they are designed to automatically open to allow fresh air in when the car is turned off. The clicking you hear is the sound of the gears slipping inside the actuator. The parts are fairly cheap ($20-$35) and with simple hand tools can be replaced.
Here is a video showing them replacing one on a Monte Carlo, which is basically the same as the Impala:

2004 expedition sunroof keeps opening on its own, I keep closing it and seconds or minutes later it opens again???

WHEN IT DOES CLOSE, DOES IT ACTUALLY SEAL GOOD LIKE IT SHOULD?? IF NOT, THEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING POSSIBLY IN THE TRACKS THAT CAUSES IT TO RE-OPEN IMMEDIATELY, SO I WOULD CHECK THE TRACKS VERY WELL, AS THATS THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN DO JUST WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIBING. THE ONLY OTHER ISSUE COULD BE THE ACTUAL SUNROOF MOTOR IS BAD, OR A SHORT IN THE ACTUAL WIRING TO THE MOTOR MECHANISM, CAUSDING THE IMMEDIATE REVERSAL OF THE SUNROOF. IF TRACKS ARE CLEAR OF ALL OBSTACLES, THEN CHECK THE WIRING FOR POSSIBLE SHORTS.

2007 jaguar xk convertible top not latching

Are you sure the battery is good, just because you charged it doesn't mean it is any good and reached full voltage. I also suggest you disconnect the battery negative cable for 5 minutes to reset the system.

Auto sliding door wont completely open or close from the home possition. The door opens half way and the door closes half way.

The wire harness/track assembly below the door needs replaced. It is a fairly simple operation that can be done in your driveway or garage. If you have any questions on how to replace feel free to ask.

Hit hard

Hi Wamos,

This can cause damage, but not necessarily, keep an eye on the floor where the car is parked to see if there's more oil then usual, also keep a close eye on the temperature gouge.

Hope this will help you,
Eitan.
