Question about Cars & Trucks
There is a charcoal canister in the fuel system that collects fuel tank vapors. When the engine is running those vapors are purged from the canister and burned by the engine reducing pollution. The solenoid which operates the valve is not operational. You didn't mention the make and model of your car, so you can get a manual at an auto parts store for it. The manual will show you the location, testing procedures and how to replace it.
