Question about 2003 Chrysler Town & Country

Issue with car not starting spuratically

Will turn the key will have no electrical power what so ever. Have replaced the batterey. The car will run after being jump started. Some time several times a day, and sometimes will run for weeks with no issue. I noticed similar issues with the 2002 300's noted n line but did not see any factory defects listed. Has anyone have a clue what the issue is before I take it to the shop?

No power to startet when key is turned check relays they r goood can put power to starter and it will crank any idear

will your car start if you put ignition key in run postion and then put remote power to the starter to crank engine? If it will you probably have an issue with the electrical portion of your ignition switch. Check to see if you have power to the high voltage side of your starter relays. If not check for a bad fuse. If so check to see if low side powers up when key is turned. If so it means you are gettintg current from the switch. So keep checking for power all the way to the starter. If not check and replace the ignition switch.

Hi. It sounds like the ignition switch [the place where you put the key] needs to be replaced. Any lock smith can do this, and they can do it where your car is parked. Joe

When you turn the key and start the car it will start but when you release the key the car quits running

This is caused by a defective ignition start switch, this is the electrical switch that powers up the electrical system when u turn the key, replace that switch. The switch is on the back side of the ignition key cylinder, see picture below, cost is about $20.00 for the switch, easy to replace, just take the plastic covers off the steering column

My battery on my 2003 Pontiac Vibe is dead and I cannot shift out of Park and into Neutral to get my car out fo the garage to jump it... Suggestions?

Have you considered a portable battery booster? With the booster, you should be able to start the engine or at least energize your car's electrical system which will allow you to shift the transmission out of Park.

THESE VEHICLES HAVE KEY CYLINDER ISSUES. YOU CAN PURCHASE A NEW KEY SWITCH AT EITHER A DEALER OR AUTO PARTS STORE. THIS SHOULD FIX YOUR NO START PROBLEMS. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING. GOOD LUCK

Electrical problem

there is a short on the car electric circuits, or inside the ignition block. If I was in your shoes I would start by replacing the ignition block. This can probably fix it. If it doesn't, you should check the ignition circuit backward to find the short.
