Why does steering wheel shimmy from 48 to 55 mph and also jumps up and down frequently?

The most common issue is tires and you said that it was speed balanced? How long ago? By whom? When tires are balanced there are weights that are clamped to the rim. If the weights are loose and fall off, the balance does no good. The speed is another issue, tires are balanced for a certain speed and until you reach that speed, it is usually not in balance. Lastly it could be brake rotors or a CV joint or bearing that is bad.

How do I get the harmonic balancer off a 2007 jeep compass

According to JeepForum: Jhanna said, "Just did mine last month to replace the output shaft ". bolts are the trick. I did not have long enough 6mm bolts, so I ran a 1/4" tap through the 3 holes. A lot easier than I thought, 6mm is just a bit smaller than 1/4", so it went fast.

Then 3, 2" long 1/4" bolts. I bought each bolt up until tight, then turned each bolt a couple of turns in order, once it started moving, went pretty smooth. I guess if yours are bending, use grade 8.

Opel corsa WDO engine timing marks

Timing marks are always on the harmonic balancer, that;s what the pullys blot to that drive your belts.Once you've found said marks by turning the crankshaft pullys by hand, using the belt to do so,scribe said proper timing mark with a white paint pen.Match that mark with the tab on the engine block at the harmonic balancer.Pacience my friend.

I have a1999 Cruck 1500 series that registered codes po446 and po281. can these be dealt with without a huge "fix it" bill?

P0446: Conditions for Setting the DTC The VCM fails to detect a drop in the EVAP system vacuum over a calibrated number of seconds with the vent solenoid open.

DTC P0281 Cylinder 7 Balance System

Conditions for Setting the DTC
• Amount of fuel reduction for a specific cylinder exceeds limits (internal to PCM). • Conditions met for 2 seconds.

Iffy on this one - your repair bill could be 2.5 hours, or it could be 10...depends on what is causing them to set.

never heard of check and balance a head. I would ask him what he's trying to fix. What were your symptoms/reasons for pulling the intake manifold?

Sounds like they did a lousy job at balancing them or did not balance them at all. This is where I would begin. It could be a faulty bad tire if the balance checks out.
