If I have this model GT-30V12 plug in for my Christmas tree, does it have a fuse or is it just not working if my prelit tree wont light at all. Just flickered and then went out.

I experienced the exact same problem, and yes--the original transformers seem like pure unobtanium. It takes just a bit of electrical "hands on", but I found that power supplies that drive common power recliners/lift chairs are the right voltage and capacity. Just search "29V power supply" or "recliner power supply" on Amazon and you should find over a half-dozen options. You are looking for something that is an AC-DC transformer with an output of 29V and capacity of 1-2 amps. I measured a draw of .27A on my 7-foot tree. I chose one that was about $12 (I happen to be a Prime member, so shipping was free and with some other purchases could arrive next-day for free).

The recliner supplies have a funny two-pin connector (with a hinged "collar" that presumably clamps on to the receiving receptacle). Not surprisingly, the pin spacing doesn't match the tree's. For expedience' sake, I spliced this directly using solder and heat-shrink tubing for insulation. I only did this because I didn't have a suitable spare connector pair on hand at the moment, but I would recommend using one for longevity--I suggest Anderson Powerpole connectors (or a Molex would do equally well).

Be sure to keep track of polarity before cutting the wires. Looking into the old transformer plug with its circular threaded connector, if you hold it so that the flat guide edge of the connector is at the top, the positive pin is on the right-hand side. This is diagrammed on the plug (on the side with no stickers) in faint relief if you look closely.

Use a multimeter to test the polarity of your new power supply. Mine just happened to have supply wires with blue and brown insulation, and the brown wire was positive.

This led to a quick, albeit not completely inexpensive fix. It has worked flawlessly, leaving us with an obviously superior quality supply. I'm disappointed in the consistently poor Chinese manufacturing of the original supply. I found dozens of posts across various question sites from people who observed the same failure. The failures are textbook identical. One answer came from a gentleman who had cut his original supply open and found loose AC prongs. I wouldn't recommend repairing such a poor-quality supply at this level. It's probably worth a few dollars to get a solid power supply. It would be a shame to have to trash an otherwise good tree. If the electrical work is a bit beyond your comfort level, perhaps you can find someone to adapt one of these recliner supplies for you.

I bought a target pre-lit christmas tree but half of it wont light up even though its all plugged. How do we fix it?

trystarting from the point that bulbs aren't working, take one of the replacement bulbs that usually come with the lights and replace them one at a time.just one replacement bulb to start then the one you took out put it in the next until either it lights up or you reach the last unlit bulb, but hopefully you dont get to the end because if you do then there's more then one bulb thats faulty. I've had that happen alot so dont give up..If the lights are on two separate wiring check for a glass fuse hidden on either ends of plug(wall or tree) I hop that helps.
