No need to trim the cable. You'll have to remove the antenna assembly from the car to remove the broken piece. It's pretty straight forward once you get the plastic covers off the inside of the car. Take the whole unit out and take it apart. Once you have the broken pieces out, put the unit back together and plug it in. Have a buddy turn the radio on (which will run the motor to raise the antenna. Once it stops, feed the cable down the hole till it stops. Have your buddy turn the radio off (which will retract the antenna) and push the cable to help engage it in the gear below. It should catch a pull the rest in on its own.

Hello I have a 99' eclipse and the antenna will not go down when you turn the car off. If u listen carefully you can hear the motor of the antenna but it won't go down. Do you have any suggestions on what the problem may be and if I have to buy parts would I have to buy it as a whole or could I just buy an Individual part. Thanks for you time

It sounds like the plastic cable broke. Mitsubishi sells the antenna insert and it's pretty cheap. You can start by removing the assembley and taking it apart to confirm the cable broke. It mght just be that the cable isn't engaging the gear but they typically either work or their broke. F/when you replace it, make sure you compare the old parts with the new one to make sure all the old parts came out. Specifically, there is a metal sleeve that usually sticks inside the housing.

I have a broken key and when i say broken i mean 2 pieces is thier a way i can replace it for cheap?

2009 Eclipse probably has a computer chip in the key, which does away with the concept we used to know as 'cheap' or even reasonable. My advice, get rid of the Mitsu and get an older, well-restored smaller muscle car ('60s Mustangs, Novas, Chevelles) from the era when mechanics had brains and cars didn't. If by some remotely-possible chance that your Mitsu key doesn't have a chip, take your broken pieces to a reputeable locksmith, and it can be re-cut pretty easily (and maybe even cheaply!)

3G Mitsubishi Eclipse Climate Control Light Bulb Replacement

The control panel for the heater and A/C must be removed. Suggest you get Chilton's manual from the library. It will take you through step by step with pictures. To summarize: 1) Remove trim panel covering radio and heater controls. 2) Remove radio. 3) Disconnect the two heater control cables from the control panel. The trick to removing the cables is to compress the "claw" spring holding the cable by pressing a screwdriver from the underside of the control panel to release each cable.4) Remove control panel. Take to a workbench. From the backside of the control panel at the top, notice two large holes through which you can access the V2 Toshiba bulb holders. Turn them a quarter turn to remove them and the bulbs. The bulb is a common #74 bulb.

My 2003 misubisi eclipse hood latch cable is broken how can i open the hood

This happened to my 2003 mitsubishi Galant... We wound up having to use some cable cutters and cut the cable, then pull the cable out through one of the grill slots, pull off the cover/sheath around the cable, and then we were able to pull the cable and release the latch. If it is already broken and you're going to have to replace it, then you're not hurting anything to cut the cable. Good luck to you.

Eclipse door handle broke so how do i replace it? how do i install?

on the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can then disconnected the rod from the back of the inside handle and replace. If it's the outside handle, remove the weather seal and remove the bolts holding the outer handle on

My 1999 Eclipse gs engine light came on, DTC P1390.

P1390 - Timing belt skipped one tooth or more.

the engine is an interference engine so if the timing belt skipped, it should be fixed before starting the engine again. otherwise you run the risk of bend/break valves from piston to valve contact
