Hi again,my security system to be down was caused by locksmith when I took my car for ignition key fixing that did not want to turn,please help?2008 Honda civic 1.8.Thabo Moche.

How to start a Ford Contour with out my key


Probably can't be done if it is late enough to be fitted with a security system. In that case the key will have a coded transponder which the system will recognise and send a signal the the engine management to switch it on.

You either need a correctly coded key or remove the engine ECU and have it decoded.

You put the key in the switch and it will not cruck the car.


if it is not turning over the car then the problem is most likely the security system.
you can have the ignition switch replaced and new keys issued and the problem will be solved OR you can have the switch bypassed with a resitor of the correct value and this will also solve the problem.
you can have a automotive locksmith come out to the car and do this bypass or swap out the ignition or even a mobile mechanic can do the bypass if he knows what he is doing.
also keep in mind that it could also be just the resistor in the key that is causing the problem -- if it is just the key, again, a automotive locksmith is your best bet for this fix.

My car won't start. The anti- theft light is on. All the lights come on but it wont turn on. I ran out turned it off and went back in my car 20 minutes later and it would not start


this is caused by the anti-theft system not reading the key proper. as a locksmith I can tell you that there is a cure for this and it does not cost very much.
what you will need to do is call a ' automotive ' locksmith and have them come out to your car and install a resistor at the ignition switch ( a resistor of the correct value of that in the key ) --- this will bypass the anti theft security of the car and fix this problem from ever happening again,, also a big plus is that you willl be able to get just regular keys copied at a cost of 2.25 instead of 26.00 + dollars. now there is a chance that a mobile mechanic that knows what he is doing can also come out and perform this same fix,, calling around and telling them what you want to do you should be able to find the right person at the right price,, again - a automotive locksmith is by far your best bet,, the cost for this service should be around 85 to 125.00 dollars ( depending on where you live ).

Had ignition switch replaced and within 4 mtns,it went out again.The mechanic said the security system sensor was burning out the switch so he un-hooked the wire to the security system and bypassed it and...


The problem might be your Vats security system. This causes the car to either "not start" or "shut down" while running, or start for 5 seconds and then die. (depending on the system) If the security light flashes, i guarantee that this is what the problem is. 1st trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year.

Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective.

Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. I have a 2000 monte carlo ss 3800 series. Sometimes the security light comes on and car will not start. When security light is not on, car always starts.Any ideas?


The passlock is having issues try this procedure and see if it helps. If it does not the passlock and ignition tumbler may need replaced.

PASSKEY LOCKOUT RESET ALL GM CARS 1999 AND UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key

HOW DO I DISABLE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM CAR WONT START


It's when the security light starts flashing that the infamous "chip" in the key becomes a nightmare to many. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
1st trick, Try a spare key that is newer or used less. The pins wear down and so do the keys causing security fail. 2nd trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shutting down while running, im sorry i have no quick fix... Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.

Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks. If you do buy this, please purchase it thru this link. The Trailblazer went to security when the battery was hooked back up. How do I clear the security alarm?

In my 2000 chevy camaro my security light is on and my car wont start what process do i need to do to get it running?


Your vehicle is equipped with the PASS-Key II (Personalized Automotive Security System) theft-deterrent system.
PASS-Key II is a passive theft-deterrent system. It works when you insert or remove the key from the ignition.
PASS-Key II uses a resistor pellet in the ignition key that matches a decoder in your vehicle. When the PASS-Key II system senses that someone is using the wrong key, it shuts down the vehicle's starter and fuel systems. For about three minutes, the starter won't
work and fuel won't go to the engine. If someone tries to start your vehicle again or uses another key during this time, the vehicle will not start. This discourages someone from randomly trying different keys with different resistor pellets in an attempt to make a match.

The ignition key must be clean and dry before it's inserted in the ignition or the engine may not start. If the engine does not start and the SECURITY light stays on when you try to start the vehicle, the key may be dirty or wet. Turn the ignition off.

Clean and dry the key. Wait about three minutes and try again. The SECURITY light may remain on during this time. If the starter still won't work, and the key appears to be clean and dry, wait about three minutes and try another ignition key. At this time, you may also want to check the fuses (see "Fuses and Circuit Breakers" in the Index). If the starter won't work with the other key, your vehicle needs service. If your vehicle does start, the first ignition key may be faulty. See your dealer or a locksmith who can service the PASS-Key II.

If you accidentally use a key that has a damaged or missing resistor pellet, the starter won't work. The SECURITY light will flash. But you don't have to wait three minutes before trying another ignition key.

See your dealer or a locksmith who can service the PASS-Key II to have a new key made.

If you're ever driving and the SECURITY light comes on and stays on, you will be able to restart your engine if you turn it off. Your PASS-Key II system, however, is not working properly and must be serviced by your dealer. Your vehicle is not protected by the PASS-Key II system. If you lose or damage a PASS-Key II ignition key, see your dealer or a locksmith who can service PASS-Key II to have a new key made. In an emergency, call the Chevrolet Roadside Assistance Center at 1-800-CHEV-USA or 1-800-243-8872 (In Canada call 1-800-268-6800).

Key win't turn ignition switch in 2008 Chevy HHR


replace the floor shifter. there is a switch on the shifter that allows the key to move. gm has had alot of problems with these shifters.
