What was your test to determine the failure ?
if you jacked up one end and the car didn't drive off the jacks , that is how an all wheel drive works
It has a differential in the transmission that allows the front axle to drive at different speeds to the rear ( same as one wheel on the axle will go faster than the other when going around corners)
it is used to prevent torque wind up in the drive train and destroying transmissions , diffs and drive lines
it has to have all 4 wheels on the ground so that the 3rd diff is not operational unless going over a speed bump or dips in the road
however if you have a 4 wheel lock for the transmission, that is different as it locks up the 3rd diff in the transmission making the car a 4 x 4

Testimonial: "New it was not working on the snow this morning. Trying to go up a hill and only the right rear wheel was spinning. Thought there was a problem yesterday, but today someone with me got out and looked. Definitely only one wheel spinning."

    that would be right

as I explained the 3rd diff in the transmission distributes power evenly back and front
now if one wheel looses traction the power is distributed to that diff and that diff is transmitting the power to the slipping wheel
a simple flow chart goes like this
power from the engine to transmission
does the supply power to both drive lines --yes --car moves
no -- where is power going to
    rear diff
do both rear wheels have traction--yes --vehicle moves
no -power moves to wheel that has no traction
if you want 4 wheel drive , engage the 4 wheel setting on the selection knob
now power has to flow to both axles, regardless if one wheel has no traction

This is all wheel drive, not 4 wheel drive. there is no selection knob. This is not full time all wheel drive, but works automatically, when it works.

Lots of possible things based on the post could be causing this. Let's start with the most important part. Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn on the ignition? Would sound like a little motor running. Is there fuel getting to the engine?

Its a connector under the hood behind the antifreeze and winshield washer bottles. You'll have to remove them to replace the plug. The dealer will have a replacement that you can splice in.
