I have a 91 passat and the clutch pedal stays on the floor. I bought this car as a project. It has been sitting for 5 years w/ a busted timing belt. Timing is fixed and is running but the clutch pedal just...

If you're talking about an hydraulic clutch system that uses brake fluid:
1. Fill the reservoir with clean brake fluid.
2. Have an assistantpull the clutch pedal up and leave it there.
3. Locate the slave bleeder - the slave is connected to the master, is located on the transmission housing and pushes the clutch release lever).
4. Open the bleeder and have the assistant push the clutch pedal down.
5. Close the bleeder.
6. Make sure there's plenty of fluid in the reservoir
7. Repeat steps 2-4-5-6 until brake fluid comes out with uniform pressure from the bleeder. Non uniform pressure is sign there may be air in the system.
There should be good pressure at the pedal now in the up position. Pressing it should disengage the clutch.

My 2004 vw passat manual will not shift gears when clutch is engaged but it will start. What could be causing this?

First you will need to check tii see if you have fluid in the clutch system. (look in your owners man. if you dont know were the rev. is for your car. If it is full you will need to have your clutch checked. It might be the slave cylender in the transmission and not the clutch pads. If the rev. is out use brake fluid and refill it , with the lid off pump your clutch padle about 20 times to reprime the slave. After that check the fluid level again if low refill. But like I said if it is still full take it in for service on the transmission. The reason the car will start if their is just a little pressure on the pads also the clutch is on the clitch pedel.

When I step on the clotch it gets stuck and dosent come back out

CHECK CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER.SOUND LIKE BRAKE FLUID LOW.IF BRAKE FLUID LOW LOOK FOR LEAKS AROUND CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND BRAKE LINES AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER HYDRALIC LINE FITTING. REASON PEDAL GOING TO FLOOR YOU HAVE FLUID LEAK WHICH WILL CAUSE AIR TO GET IN THE CLUTCH HYDRALIC SYSTEM. YOU HAVE TO LOCATE LEAK FIX AND BLEED THE CLUTCH HYDRALIC SYSTEM.

Where do i add the manual clutch fluid? on a 2008 accent?

hi from uk if it is same as earlier models ? then the clutch fluid comes from the brakefluid reservoir too if you look you will/should see a seperate hose leading to clutch master cyl the actual reservoir is divided inside compartment for brake and the other for clutch so if clutch fluid leaks it does not affect the other chamber that feeds brake master cyl so same fluid for both systems just fill to level mark on reservoir

Clutch pedal does not aways return to rest position

You obviously have a fluid leak.
This is most likely related to the clutch non-return problem.
Identify the source of the leak - leaks generally occur at either the master cylinder or the slave cylinder.
Replace the leaking unit, re-bleed the system, and your problem should be solved.
