My daughter was driving her car and it just died. Took the battery to have it charged and it came up with a bad cell. replaced it and now only the headlights and dash lights come on.

Is the car now running? If it is, then what you need to do is get a hold of the car schematic and check out all the components in between your power source and the items not working. Use a voltmeter or 12 volt car tester lite to track down the issue.

I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 that will not start .the battery is good but when i go to start the truck i get two cranks then it seems like the battery died. the battery is good but after i try to crank

Click on the link.
The first thing I would do, is use a digital multimeter across battery posts, everything off, take reading, the generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts. If your reading is much less, you need to charge the battery. With meter leads touching battery posts, have a helper turn the key to crank, if complete circuit, the reading shouldn't drop below 9.6 volts, if it drops down close to zero, that's not going to work. Another thing that might happen, is not much drop at all, that usually means an open starter circuit, somewhere. What about battery connections?
See the starter relay, if you unplug the relay and use a jumper wire between terminal 30 and 87, the starter motor should crank, if voltage--ground and starter motor are ok. If you try that, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Safety is your responsibility.
You can remove the starter, lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from battery to starter motor, it should kick out the drive gear and spin. Some of the national brand auto stores will test your starter motor for free, I believe, if you take it to them.
Check your charging system. I could go on and on, but, my post is already too long. Just trying to help.

Replacing a starter

Replacing the starter on a 96 Avalon is incredibly simple. I did it in the parking lot of a store. Just bring your ratchet set and you will be good to go. I took out the old starter, had a friend bring me to autozone and I bought a new one. Its easy to locate, easy to remove and easy to install.

Starter/alternator problems on 1995 Dodge Dakota

The bid cable on the starter may have had another wire on it that the alternator charges the battery threw,it may not have got reconnected,or the fusible link in that wire may have burned into.Or plain and simple the alternator went out.Check these things out and remove the alternator and have it check out to see if it is working properley.

With the battery light on, it is leading me to think alternator not charging the battery. If you can get it started and running, take it to Autozone and have them test your battery and alternator (free test, they bring the machine into the parking lot to your vehicle). Hope this helps.
