It is in the air intake pipe of the engine just off the air cleaner housing. The sensor is bolted into a housing by two machine screws.

Ford focus stoping at idling every time what problem

Restricted air flow. Replace the air filter if dirty. Clean the throttle body and MAF sensor. I use brake clean. Use a tooth brush on the throttle body , just spray down the MAF sensor. Leave the MAF off, start the car and spray some in the throttle as you rev it up. If the engine light comes on, it is because of the MAF being off. It will go out in a day or two. Or you can have it cleared.

2006 ford focus idle speed too low when cold

Have you replaced the spark plugs and wires? Also,a dirty MAF sensor can play hob with your idling.
GENTLY clean the wires in the MAF sensor with a MAF sensor spray and a clean fine-haired brush. My electric shaver brush(long haired side)workedreally well on mine. You'll hafta buy a
special torx set with the holes drilled in the ends.Look at the screws holding the MAF sensor and you'llsee what I mean. Hope this helps! Don-ohio (:^)

Po171 and po103 readings on 2003 ford focus

p0171-- o2 sensor probably getting old. anyways it is either going to be a vacuum leak causing the system to go lean from unmonitored air or the o2 sensor is bad. check for vacuum leaks first. p0103 is -- mass air flow high curcuit input ( maf ). but before buying one because they are about 100 and some dollars. clean maf sensor first this may take care of problem. how to clean maf sensor--go this site will help. have a good day !!

My 2000 ford focus has codes p0102 and p0113 whats that and what could it be?

P0102 - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input
The MAF sensor circuit is monitored by the PCM for low air flow (or voltage) input through the comprehensive component monitor (CCM). If during key ON engine running the air flow (or voltage) changes below a minimum calibrated limit, the test fails. MAF sensor disconnected
MAF circuit open to PCM
VPWR open to MAF sensor
PWR GND open to MAF sensor
MAF RTN circuit open to PCM
MAF circuit shorted to GND
Intake air leak (near MAF sensor)
A closed throttle indication [throttle position (TP) sensor system]
Damaged MAF sensor
Damaged PCM
A MAF V PID (MAF PID) reading less than 0.23 volts (Refer to equivalent grams/second chart in GO to Pinpoint Test DC ) in continuous memory or key ON and engine running indicates a hard fault.
P0113 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Circuit High Input Indicates the sensor signal is greater than Self-Test maximum. The IAT sensor maximum is 4.6 volts or -50°C (-58°F). Open circuit in harness
Sensor signal short to power
Damaged sensor
Improper harness connection
Damaged PCM
IAT V PID reading greater than 4.6 volts with key ON and engine OFF or during any engine operating mode indicates a hard fault.

2000 ford focus runs rough when I unplug the mass air sensor, but won't start when the mass air sensor is plugged in. How do I fix this ?

The MAF itself is probaly defective. First check if the filament is dirty, and try cleaning it with MAF cleaner in spray bottle. The way MAF works is that air current cools a heated element resulting in lower resistance. This minute change is further amplified by the circuit in the MAF sensor and fed to the computer. I have never tested a MAF sensor, but I can probably test one. Since the engine don't even start I would probably use a fan, and with the ignition in on position I would probe for voltage changes, that changed with the amount of air rushing through it. There should be a supply voltage, a ground, and the rest would be in series with other sensor, then one would be the input to the computer which varies in value with the amount of air going through.

2003 Ford Focus will not idle

try cleaning the MAF Mass Air Flow sensor element wire in tube with a toohtbrush and carb cleaner carefully. It gets coated with a film. It is in air inlet hose and has a wiring connector on it. Then drive for 15 minutes so it can learn the clean MAF sensor. Is check engine light on?

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
  1. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
  1. Remove the MAF sensor.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Otherwise, you may need to adjust idle air control (IAC).

report on results.
