The heads are not made that way, they will bolt on left or right.

Doese it matter were the heads set on a 1994 nissan maxima as long as the timeing marks are in line right and at tdc

The are guide pins on them to make sure they are aligned. But the heads are the same, if it isn't over head camshafts. Answer to your question is, No it doesn't matter.

I have oil in my coolant what could cause this and how can i resolve the problem

head gasket definatley. replace head gasket or gaskets but also have your heads checked by a machine shop for cracks and/or bad valves before you put it back together.

Blown head gasket

Is it overheating?, running? Blowing steam out the rear? , oil in the radiator? You need to do a compression check to find out which cylinder it is, if it is a v-6, if it is a 4 cyl, it won't matter,. A radiator shop can tell you and even quote you on the repair. About$1200, Ouch. I know. You can do it yourself, it is a job. Pull the head off, get it machined, new head bolts and gasket, put the hole thing back together, sounds easy. First remove everything in the way, like the car, then it is easy to work on. Good luck, hope this helps.

Head gasket repair? What does this entail and how much?

This usually implies the vehicle has overheated and the head warped causing damage to the gasket. severe overheating can cause valves to warp and even piston rings to seize. If the vehicle has over 180,000 miles on it it is a very bad idea to attempt to make this repair. Head gasket repair would require you remove th upper half of the engine and have the heads checked and resurfaced at a machine shop. This job should be done by a pro or someone with enough tools and experience to carry it out. No matter which its not an inexpensive undertaking

1.9L SOHC - head gasket set which includes all gaskets needed to remove cylinder head with thermostat runs about $150.00. Head mechine ( check for cracks and milled ) $145.00. Labor time to remove and reinstall cylinder head 8.5 hrs X shops labor rate.

1.9L DOHC - head gasket set and thermostat runs about $210.00. Head mechine $175.00. Labor to remove and reinstall cylinder head 10.7 hrs X shop labor rate.

Labor times per Mitchell labor book, this is a guide all repair shops used.

My 2002 lincoln nav. 5.4 . the dealer said the #3

There is no recall on the cylinder heads of a Navigator,if it was then the repair would be free,so he must be refering to a technical service bulletin.
The problem with having head redone is if they resurface the head then the bolt holes in the front timing chain cover will not line up with the bolt holes in the head when you reinstall the cover. Ford has recently come out with oversized headgaskets for this purpose so it is do-able now but it would have to be done by a machine shop fimilar with this proceedure.We tried to have this done one time by a local machine shop here and it was a total disaster.Wound up replacing heads anyway. The problem with this type of repair though is that the dealer wouldn't be able to warranty the repair but if it saves you a couple thousand that probably wouldn't matter to you. But you would definately need to be aware of this.

Good day
It sounds like the head gasket is gone. Check around the head to see if you can see any coolant.
If you can remove the head your self replacing the gasket, it's would be good to take the head into a engine rebuilt shop and have them check for wrapage, and the vales.
I would do a compression test to see what you get, if the compression is low then a very good chance that the head gasket is gone,you said that it's over heating that is a sign also, Please let me know how you hake out I hope this helps
