The codes you listed have to do with electronic throttle control. I don't believe that would kill your spark. Did you visually check for spark at the spark plugs?
If your missing both spark and injector pulse, I'd check the crank sensor. Yes, disconnecting battery should erase codes. Sometimes disconnecting battery might cause more problems. The diagram is for ignition coils.

there is no spark at the spark plugs boots i didn't check the injector pulse where is the injector located?? i have a throttle body. i did check the crank senor with a sensor tester the lights do blink on the tester when cranking that mean the sensor is working. if dis connecting the battry erase codes why there is codes still in the computer? i have disconnect the battry cable a few time while working on the vehicle.

Did you check the high-lighted link? That is wiring for ignition coil. The circuit that says (ignition) is voltage. The circuit that say (control) goes to pcm, that is pcm command. That black wire is a ground.
I don't know why you still have codes, the codes may have popped up between battery disconnects?
The fuel injectors are in the fuel rail, you may have to remove air plenum to get at them?
If your getting frustrated, I don't blame you, but, I can't see anything from here. I don't mind talking to you, but, from the questions your asking, the quickest fix may be to take it to a shop. They should have the proper equipment to diagnose problem, correctly. All I can do from here is hunt and peck.

  • Joe Russell Dec 06, 2016

there is 11.7 voltage at the coil i remove the air plenum i see the throttle body i havn't found the injector.

The fuel injectors are in the fuel rail, can you see fuel rail?
As far as ignition coil, there has to be a command from pcm or nothing happens. You can try digital multimeter on control wire, engine cranking, see if there is a signal? You can check that chassis ground also, black wire. Make sure battery has a full charge. Sometimes with a lot of testing, the battery gets run down.

Could be something going on with computer? My first thought was no rpm signal, but, you said you checked all that? I'm at the end of my rope. I can't diagnose properly over the internet?

  • Joe Russell Dec 08, 2016

how do i check for rpm signal? and if there no rpm signal what is the cause? but there is no signal on the trigger side of the coils.thank's for your help.

If you have a scanner that will show live engine data, it should show rpms. does it?

  • Joe Russell Dec 09, 2016

    i have a innova scan tool 3040c,
it read view live data place the scan tool in code retrieval mode start the engin. press and release the LD button to place the scan tool in Live data mode I'm not sure how to use this tool i guest i just plug it in and the tool do the rest.

Hi Joe, with any new scanner, I usually have to practice with it a little.

  • Joe Russell Dec 09, 2016

are you saying the engine don't have to be running to see live data and rpm signal? because the engine want start.

  • jack layton
    jack layton Dec 09, 2016

Hopefully with engine cranking it will show rpms on the scanner?

  • Joe Russell Dec 09, 2016

if it don't show rpms on the scanner what is the cause and what to check?

  • jack layton
    jack layton Dec 09, 2016

I don't know if your scanner will show that or not? All scanners are not created equal.
In my opinion, if rpm signal is lost, no spark--no fuel injector ground pulse-- the fuel pump relay won't energize when cranking. Now, you don't need rpm signal for fuel pump prime, key on engine off, but you do need it engine cranking.

I'm not familiar with your scanner.

Are there any applicable trouble codes? What about your crank sensor?
For cam sensor, my info says right front of engine, three wire connector, note the wire colors.

How does the crankshaft position sensor operate what is it Job to do? and how do i test the injectors for pulsa with a noid light where are the injectors located on this vehicle?

The crank sensor is needed for the coils to fire. It is on the drivers side, mounted in the engine block back by the transmission. The injectors are under the plenum. The plenum wraps around them. I wouldn't worry about them right now. And your probably right about being flooded. I would throw new plugs in it when you replace the sensor.

Do a 2004 Envoy SLT 4.2L have a Ignition Module?

Crankshaft position sensor, cam sensor . your vehicle should have coil on plug , a coil at each spark plug !
Ignition Coils
Each ignition coil has an ignition 1 feed and a ground. The PCM supplies an ignition control (IC) circuit. Each ignition coil contains a solid state driver module as its primary element. The powertrain control module (PCM) signals the coil driver to initiate a firing event by applying a signal to the IC circuit at the appropriate time. When the signal is removed, the coil fires the spark plug. The spark plugs are tipped with platinum for long wear and higher efficiency.
During normal operation the powertrain control module (PCM) controls all ignition functions. If either the crankshaft position (CKP) or camshaft position (CMP) sensor signal is lost, the engine will continue to run because the PCM will default to a limp home mode using the remaining sensor input. As mentioned above, each coil is internally protected against damage from excessive voltage. If one or more coils were to fail in this manner, a misfiring condition would result. Diagnostic trouble codes are available to accurately diagnose the ignition system with a scan tool.
If a crank sensor is replaced a Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn must be done and a scan tool is need to do this.

The engine will crank but will not start why?

Do you have any codes or an engine light on, in your dash board ? Have you checked for spark at your plugs ? There are many things that could cause a vehicle to not start. Bad camshaft/crankshaft sensors. Poor ground wiring. Defective spark plugs or wires/coils.
