The four bolts holding the fan clutch to the water pump pulley are loosened counter clockwise. If you don't have a pulley holding tool at hand, use a wrench(closed end side) as a locking leverage on the studs(do not place the wrench on the nuts) while loosening the nuts 1 by 1 with another wrench. When reinstalling use the same method, but place black elec tape over the studs(prevent thread damage) after you hand tighten the bolts for the fan clutch. hopefully this helps

Looking rearward towards front of engine from in front of radiator, which way, CW or CCW, does 87Ford Ranger2.9L crankshaft (fan & pump) turn?

fan clutches are Left hand thread as they tighten up when the engine is running. If they were right hand thread then when the fan is working they would come loose off the shaft
In short undoing then actually tightens them

Clutch fan removal for 1999 C2500 pickup with V-8, 5.7 engine. Seems to be threaded onto water pump shaft.

get a fan clutch removal wrench from the auto parts, the thread is probably left handed also make sure you try turning it counter clock wise first,it will be tight so it will take a few trys.

if you are looking at the fan from the front of the truck put your wrench on and turn clockwise. works good if you have a long enough wrench and an air hammer to hit the wrench.

90 toyota cressida fan clutch

I just replaced the fan clutch on my F150. It doesn't take too long but I would recommend you get one of the Haynes type book for your cressida. The reason I say that is because of the method they use to attach the fan clutch to the engine. If you need the special tool to unloosen the large nut, you can get it from a good parts store. They charge you for it but refund the $$ when you bring it back

Heads up because the mane nut is usually a left handed thread

Hope this helpsGood luck
