HEI in a pre 1962, 235 c.i inline six

You don't have to spend 200.00 and up on a distributor for your pre-1962 235 in-line six.All you have to do is find a donner 1975-1980 six cylinder HEI distributor.Once you get your hands on one you can't just put it in and think your engine will be fine. The oil pump drive or end of the distributor is too short to engage the pump and will not pump oil into the gallies. So you must remove end by driving out roll pin and running 4 to 5 weld beads to make the shaft longer, a min. of 3/16 in.Then re-shape and chamfer end as needed. You should be able to find a suitable distributor at your local junkyard or check online. As long as you have the space for the bigger cap, you will notice a differance in idle and perrfomance.

What does it mean for your car to only run on two engine cylinders

it means that there are only two cylinders actually working properly , as a rule most engine's have either four or six cylinders,if your car is only running on two i'm surprised it actually gets you any where , you will need to get the OBD codes read to discover what is going on , any decent mechanic will be able to read the OBD for you

Where is the power steering pump located

As a general rule the power steering pump will be located on the front left side of the engine. (think Left/Right as though you were seated behind the steering wheel.) The pumps are usually painted black and will be about six to eight inches in diameter with a cap on the top that you can remove to check the fluid level.

How do you change the spark plugs and air filter on a 1990 Merc 190e 2.6L? What type of plugs and gap do you recommend? What type of air filter is also recom?

the 2.6 engine is fairly simple, with hood open, check on the left hand side of the engine and you will see a black plastic cover on the top of the motor with six wires coming from it, these are attatched top six plug caps, twist all caps slightly to and fro to break the seal between the rubber of the cap and the plug ceramic, then gently ease each cap off the plugs, you'll then need a plug spanner to remove plugs, reassemble in reverse order. Check your hand book and it will tell you the correct plugs and gaps ( new plugs are normally gapped correctly for the application)
