Question about 1999 Isuzu Trooper

2 Answers

I have a 99' Isuzu Trooper that has about 130,000 in town (mainly) miles. Lately, it has been making a squealing sound while driving. When I put on the brakes, it stops. It does not make the sound all of the time, but always when I start driving. What should I rule out?

You need some new brake pads - quick before you wear the discs/rotors down .

Can a 99 isuzu trooper tranny work in a 2001

search around for auto recyclers via a google search. find one with a searchable inventory, they are out there. marshall's in circleville, ohio is one. search for a transmission for a 99 isuzu trooper and for a 01 trooper transmission. if they have the same interchange part number, you are good to go. if not, you will find certainly one that is.

Lost power to engine

Check make sure all plugs are firing. Sounds like what my 93 Rodeo was doing-Idled okay but very rough when in gear. Turns out only 5 out of 6 plugs were firing due to a defective ignition module- 100 bucks later it works fine.

Hope this helps.

99 trooper with TOD how do i know if it is on

Power drive delays the shift points for upshift of the automatic transmission. It will degrade fuel economy, but you'll get more peppy performance.

Winter drive will only engage if the vehicle speed is below a certain threshold (I think 23 miles per hour) - and only if the vehicle is in Reverse, Neutral, or Drive. It causes the automatic transmission to start off in 3rd gear (rather than 1st gear). The purpose is to provide power, but not torque to the tires. In winter driving, torque increases the probablility of the tires spinning. The vehicle will seem to be VERY sluggish when winter driving is engaged - which is completely normal behaviour. It will automatically disengage when vehicle speed increases above the threshold.
