This might be a worn throttle position sensor because if it runs at idle and then when you increase with gas peddle there could be a worn spot in the sensors contact also if this is a drive by wire throttle body(throttle motor with a plug on it and no lever for manual throttle increase this also could be bad you must have a check engine light on if not when you first turn the key for power///NOT CRANKING ///check to see if all dash warning lights come on in the self test of the system the bulb could be burned out for the check engine light if so go to auto zone or advance auto and they will scan your system for trouble codes to give you a better idea post back with results and progress and we will go further if needed you did not specify what E van 150-450 and motor size 4.6--5.4gas------6.0 diesel so I'm assuming that it's gas please be specific if you post back all of us here need this info for trying to help you remember your there in front of the vehicle we are not here is a couple of pics for you this is the throttle body motor and you would get a check engine light and a wrench sign on the dash warning lights
i have a 2005 ford e-coline van when running and g - 26381095-lw30xb3gqn3gwqtvkpmbzy1k-1-0.jpg
this is the throttle position sensor below check engine light will be on
26381095-lw30xb3gqn3gwqtvkpmbzy1k-1-2.jpg there is also the possibility of really warn spark plugs that are way out of gap and the engine can only run under light rpm load and when rpms increase the spark plug electrode gap is to far out and the heat from the plug firing inside the head is making expand even more and thus no spark plugs firing and no rpm increase and engine dies look at the plugs first and check the gap then go further as described above good luck Stephei have a 2005 ford e-coline van when running and g - 26381095-lw30xb3gqn3gwqtvkpmbzy1k-1-5.jpgt/uploads/images/26381095-lw30xb3gqn3gwqtvkpmbzy1k-1-5.jpg" alt="26381095-lw30xb3gqn3gwqtvkpmbzy1k-1-5.jpg" class="h_mi" />

Guessing here, might help to know the make/model/year/engine.
Sounds like you're running in "limp mode" because one of your sensors is either bad or simply not hooked up. Perhaps TPS (throttle position sensor) or MAF (Mass AirFlow)

2005 Ford Escape v6 4wd Runs and starts no problem when accelerating and it gets to 25 mph transmission basically goes into neutral until you drop below 25 and no check engine light.

Failed Transmission & need to rebuild it,
is more likely than a simpler fix

I say that based on the 10 years it has been in service

My 95 Ford Windstar has just developed a rather distressing problem. In the morning, I get in my van and everything is fine. A few hours later, when I get in my van and start it, there is a warning bell...

one of the door ajar switches are sticking. needs to be put on the computer to find out which one. only other way is to go around and unplug the switches until your light shuts off.

2005 f150 was running just fine and then all of sudden lost power and then shut off. Tried to restart and it started for second then shut off again.

Need more info., but same thing happened to me on my 01 f150, found out the spare key that I was using at the time, had a programmable chip that was going bad. Had new key programmed and solved problem. Hope that helps.

2003 Dodge Caravan Battery?

Sounds like time for new battery, give it a full charge & have it tested, but have alternator checked as well, even though it appears alternator is o.k. because it runs, but just in case it's an intermittent problem with alternator

2000 Ford windstar will not restart after shut off from running

Mine only flashes when I start the engine. Once I place it in drive it stops and operates normally. This includes up and down shiftsing. If I place the tranny uner a load when the light is flashing (it flashes for about 10 secinds then it will chatter.
Maybe its a clogged transmission filter? Obviously is a fluid pressure problem. I drove it 5000 miles with this problem and it seems to not affected the tranny. Some folks talk about the Neutral Start switch. with 185K and a rebuilt tranny at 120K I am not going to invest $3000 to replace it
