I would have to guess this is the starter motor that is the issue.

The fault is in the starter solenoid and it will be intermittent in nature, caused by burnt contacts. So a static test may not catch this.

I have a 2004 PT Cruiser. I was headed to work yesterday morning, got in and started it. It cranked right up but as soon as it started it lost power and died. It did this a few more time before it did...

this is called and engine stall.
it can be cause by,
lost electrical power, to the EFI system.
did the dash lights die, at engine stall?
if not power was probably ok, that is electrical power is ok,
stalling is engine stalling and zero power from engine.
ok next time it wants to stall , see if you can save it.
this is called hot footing.
can you?
if you can save it easy,
maybe the ISC is sticking closes,
if its a tad hard to save , maybe the EGR main is sticking open.
if its impossible to save may be fuel pressure dropped to 0 PSI.

this is why we use tools i can drive and watch fuel pressure.
if you cant, then fuel pressure issues, need the hands of a pro.
squirt tests only find dead fuel pumps, pros, use , guages.
that is 3 of 50 cause.
if you need the 50 list , i have it.
but we dont use that, we use diagnosis. with tools.

Common problems with the pontiac grand am mot starting

That is a pretty "wide-open" question. Not starting can be caused by everything from a low or dead battery to a malfunctioning security system to a faulty fuel pump or the fuel injection control system or ignition system problems. It can even be caused by serious mechanical failures in the engine itself. A LOT more information would be needed before anyone could tell you why your car is failing to start.

If the battery and charging system is OK, then you need to begin diagnosis of the rest of the possible system failures by scanning your engine control computer for possible stored fault codes.

These vehicles can be a bit awkard to say the least but i would need to know all the symptoms before i can even think about it ,i would suggest another renault garage as they obviously dont employ skilled fitters ,now the faulty injection light is a sign of a fuel filter but it can also mean the pressure sensor .On the injector pump is pressure sensor which tells the computer wthat the pressure has built up ,without this signal it will not start its a digital signal so it cannot be read with a volt meter it needs a dwell meter and it should show about 17% if i remember rightly with ignition on then it rises to about 70% when running ,what you are reading with the dwell is the frequency of the signal being produced .Just find a proper mechanic or try another renault dealer ,also complain to renault direct in france about this dealer and the fact they dont know a du pan from a fromage

1994 Eagle Summit is hard to start in mornings but works great all day after it is going. Then it happens all over again the next morning. There is an engine code but don't know how to get it. Is it the...

Your car is fuel injected and has a fuel pressure regulator valve that allows fuel to return to the tank, one sure sign that the valve is bad is that it allows all the fuel pressure to return to the tank so you must crank and crank which in truth is not what gets it going. You attempting to start it multiple times is turning the fuel pump on for @ 30 seconds. Untill you have the valve tested try turning the key to on, when the pump stops running (whirring or light buzzing sound) turn the key off and back on again. After a few times the pressure should be built up enough to start the engine.

Intermittent dead ignition to dead ignition

This problem is usually caused by a failing neutral safety switch. Try moving the shifter when it is dead. Will it start in neutral? Move the shifter while trying to start (foot on brake!)

Renault megance Dci doesn't start in the morning - injection prob

look in fuel filter you are looking for metal fillings. i suspect you have a broken high rail pressure pump. if all ok.
check the pump to see if bosch or siemens.
if bosch can you hear a wine noise for 3 seconds, this is a lift pump.
if ok i suspect a faulty injector, this stick open.
poss the fuel regulator.
crank shaft sensor.

Guages when crazy. Now won't even try to start.

You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)

Stalling issue

If your car has high miles and you haven't changed the coil packs, that may be your problem. Bad coil paks will cause hard starting, rough idle and stalling.
