Question about 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

1 Answer

Emmission light came on - I don't remember if the radiator fan was on when I turned the car off, which usually cools the car. Did smell an odor like mill dew (wet sock) and air conditioner was on. Saw the car getting hot so I put the heater on and the temp went down. This morning light was on but then turned off after driving about 1/2 hour.

You need to have a code scan done to get some direction on this...When the light comes on it sets a code that will be stored in the computer. Many larger parts stores will do the scan for free.

MERCURY MARNER SERVICE EMMISSION LIHT

Have your mechanic check your exhaust out put. There are three things to check: egr valve, oxygen senser(s), if these are good, you have a stopped up catalytic converter(s). Remember your engine must breathe too.

Radiator fans not working car is running hot.

Turn vehicle off. Allow to cool. Raise hood.
Try to see if the fans spin freely by hand. If not, replace. If they do spin, proceed to next step.
Next step-
Check coolant level, add if needed. Remember-radiator must be cool before opening cap. Make sure radiator cap is secure and tight if coolant was added.
Start vehicle. Observe coolant gauge as vehicle warms. Fans should come on when temp gauge reads halfway between c and h.
If fans do not come on see if they come on when you turn on ac or heat. If doing this makes them come on, suspect faulty cooling fan sensor switch. If they don't come on replace cooling fan sensor switch and fan relay.

I have a 2001 hyundai sonata, I have a light that is coming on, in the manual it says gas, exhaust light, what is that?

emmission light.
there is a small vapour leak in the fuel sytem of your car.
this doesn`t mean your leaking liquid gas -only a small amount of fuel vapours.
the emmission system of today`s vehicle are very sensitive, and when the car`s computer monitors this, it will display this information thru your dash warning light.
yor car is still safe to drive, but eventually you will have to fix this problem in order to pass a drive -clean -emmission test. See your service repair shop for further diagnostics..

98 saturn did not pass emmission test also idle doesn't come below 1100rpm.,&sometimes the cooling fan comes on even when the temp gauge is below normal operating temp.

It sounds like a faulty computer (PCM) Have the codes check which can be done free at any Auto Zone auto parts store in the US excluding the state of California

The emmission light in my ford fusion is on what is it

the emmisssion light comes on to alert you to the fact that a fault has occured in the electronic engine and emmission control system, there are over 200 such faults poss and each has it's own distinct fault code that is set in memeory whenever the light comes on, if u have less than 70,000 miles on this car it is likely this will be covered by the US Goverment mandated emmssion system warranty.

Trouble code meanings for 2000 toyota avalon

the bank 1 is in the front of your car close to the radiator, the other one is the bank 2. I think you have to replace the bank 1 and bank 2 sensor and the po115 is the coolant temperature sensor, after you replace all these sensors and have the machanic reset or turn off the CHECK ENGINE light. check with the emmission inspector before you begin to replace all these parts. good luck
