Try turning the steering wheel hard left or right before you try to turn the key.
Sometimes the steering wheel lock is in a tight position that stops the key from lowering the steering wheel lock, thus not letting the key roll forward.
If that is not the case, a bad ignition cylinder could be the issue.... but if you weren't having trouble with it before, then it's going to be the steering wheel lock.
