check for spacing in the input shaft splines and make sure there isn't a certain position it has to line up in.
If you have a small metal snap ring around the end of the axle shaft, you will need to force that straight in.
There are small retainers inside the transmission on some cars that use that ring to kinda lock the end of the shaft into place.
Don't push and pull the axle from a position that stretches the boots out so much.
Some you just have to get lined up close and thrust in in there with a little force.

SOURCE: front axle passenger side

about a 1 hour job

1 you need to remove the wheel 4 or 5 nuts.
2 you need to remove the caliper 2 bolts at the back of the disk.
3 there will be a cup in the middle of the disk you can remove the cup with a hammer and a medium flat blade screw driver behind the cup us a large nut it may have a **** pin going through it you will need a pair of side cutter plyers to remove the split pin the nut will be 24mm.
4 there will be 2 bolts with a nut each on the back of them undo the bolts and the disk will come toward you and hang on an angle.
5 your driveshaft will be sort of locked in to the transmission give the driveshaft a bit of a shake side to side and pull toward you at a steady rate you dont want to damage your seals.
6 it is all straight forward when putting i back together just make sure to do the caliper and the 24mm nut up as tight as you can and dont forget the split pin.

if i was you i was you i would do the driver side axel as well they always seem to follow not long after you replace the other

hope i explained it well let me no if you get stuck

no you dont need any special tools

SOURCE: nocking noise in front passenger side axle when i

I espect this either a wheel bearing our the CV joint is failing. It may possibley be a noise coming from the brake (rotor and caliper) I would recommend getting it in to a shop for a look or, if you feel up to it, get it up on a jack stand, remove that tire and give a look.
I hope this may have helped,'

How do I replace my inner axle on the passenger side of my 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4 4.7L. I lent my truck out and the C clip let go of the CV axle. The intermediate axle spline is stripped and I need to change...

Lift and support front end on suitable jack stands preferably on frame. Remove right front cv axle, stub shaft, and seal. You will need to pull the right front brake caliper assembly loose and place to the side. Then remove bolts from shock and upper control arm and hub nut to do this. Next, remove axle lock actuator on passenger side of front axle. Place a drain pan underneath front diff cover and remove cover and drain axle. In the center of differential there will be an 8 mm head bolt holding spider gear cross-shaft. Remove bolt and cross-shaft only! Push inner axle in until clip clears inside of passenger spider gear. Set clip aside and push/pull axle shaft straight out to passenger side.

1994 geo prizm replaced drive axle and wheel bearings and it sounds like the drver side axle is binding or broken or not in all the way it makes a loud knocking from the driverside like the axle is hitting...

I see there are two different axles listed, with and without abs. One is slightly longer than the other. You could have the wrong axle or it could be something inside the transmission. I doubt the passenger side axle would affect the driver side.
Can you raise the front end and make the noise with the car parked ?

When i put my 2001 chevy impala in drive it clunks and wont drive . WHY

You may have damaged the cv axle when it got hit, lift the passenger side of the car up off the ground and spin the tire while in (N) see if both joints of the axle are spinning together. If not the joint of the axle is broken.

Inner spline will not disengage from the diff on the drivers side

Hi, its a tough one, but it will come out. try to use a pry bar with a slightly bent tip, you miHT have to turn axle till one of the "bells"is in a reachable place to put the tip between the axle and the trans case. prybar should have its length towards rear of car, maybe add a 3 to four foot pipe over it to add leverage. if that fails, then you have to remove the passenger axle, using a railroad spike or old 1/2 drive extension, you can drive out the driver side axle from the passenger side axle housing.

there is a vacumn motor on thr front passenger side axle that slides an internal collar that connects the inner and out axle halves to lock in the front axle. these are notorious for problems. be the first place to look.

Passenger side cv axle keeps breaking

Contact your local parts store. Some are the same and some are different. I believe that the passenger axle shaft is longer than the drivers side.
