How do I clear a blockage in the breather pipe to the gas tank of a 2003 Chevy Tahoe?

OK, is it difficult to replace? The problem I'm having is that I can only put about 2 gallons of gas into the tank without it starting to spit back out at me, so I'm having to get gas almost everyday. Thanks!!

what you think is a vent blockage is likely a bad valve in the evap system.

I don't have the diagram for that, but from what I understand, it's up in a fender near the tank...Check with a dealer or reliable tech that you know and likely they can give you location info. However the symptom you reported is classic for that component.

I have 2003 chevy tahoe 5.3 the gas up down what can that be

Could be a bad ground. Check the black wire coming from the fuel tank. There is one for the pump and one for the gauge. If the grounds are good, then it will be the sending unit. That is located inside the tank and will need to be changed. That sending unit also has the fuel pump attached. Involves removing the fuel tank. Be sure to run it almost empty before working on it.

If the crossover pipe between tanks runs up the crossmember above fuel level, it needs to be full of fuel to syphon into the other tank, if it has air in the pipe it won't syphon... Pressurise the full tank with compressed air to force fuel into pipe and other tank. it should work correctly unless there is an air leak/ blockage/tap tuned off on the crossover pipe....

Why is gas spitting out the filler when attempting to fuel my 2003 kia sorento

Unfortunately it's a manufacturing or maybe design fault. They all do that. It's the way the filler pipe and it's breather pipe are shaped. After the tank gets to about 9 liters before being full, the fuel covers up the breather pipe, so the air pressure builds up in the tank, compressing the air, and blowing the fuel back out the filler. It used to take about 5 minutes to fill the last 9 or 10 liters. If you do it slowly, which is difficult due to the auto switch off of the bowsers, it can be done without getting fuel all over your feet. It's a small price to pay for an otherwise great car!

Chevy Tahoe sputters than dies

i would first try to replace the fuel filter.usually there filter accumalates debris in the gas tank especially if you you ru the tank close to empty.filter location needs to be traced from the tank toward the motor.you will see a cylinder inline with a strap.part usually runs around 20.00. also when you initally turn the key before start you will hear a hum for about 2 sec. this is the fuel pump pushing the fuel up to motor.so if you hear this pump is working.

I have 2004 blazer, after i drive it my gas take will pop.whats wrong?

Sounds like your getting a pressure problem in your tank. Try and find the tank breather pipe and see if it isn't clogged up. If it is then you need to remove the blockage. If the tank can't vent the gasses build up and bulge the tank.

I have to pump my gas really slow or the gas shoots back out. A friend says its a piece missing on my tank. What could this be?

there should be a beather pipe attached to the tank to remove pressure build up in the tank when filling up. if the breather is blocked then pressure from the tank will build up then force the gas back up the filler pipe when filling.check your breather pipe.

2003 Chevy S-10 Crew Cab slow filling tank which splashes back and shuts off gas pump hose. ? filler pipe problem.

Sounds like the vent is pluged, its either next to the filler pipe or inside the filler pipe, but in any case it will come from the gas tank
( most likely on top of tank) to vent the air thats traped in the tank, when its pluged there is no other place for the air to go but out the filler tube.

How do you remove gasoline from the gas tank of 2003 chevy tahoe

You'll have to drop the tank while it is full... It sucks too. My advice is to get some help. It'll be heavy.
