My saab 9-3 linear SE 1.8T Auto has a problem with closing the roof as one of the hydraulic cylinders has burst all over the back seat. How much will it cost to fix?

Anon, a job like this in a lot of shops will solely be based on time(per hour labor rate) and materials(replacement parts). You could try a SAAB dealership for maybe a book price.

Turbochargers do not kick in they always work from the time you start your engine to time you shut it off, normally the fault of turbo means you have loss of oil and black smoke of the exhaust, if there is a loss of power it can mean few things and it is only diagnostics and proper garage to tell, as well it can be a fault in the fuel system. Get it checked properly.

91 saab 900s roof broken how to close manualy

In the trunk of car the lift up the rear deck panel where the spare wheel is stored.Look in the right hand corner and you will see a small motor. You will also see a little L shaped tool next to it.Attach that tool to the motor and wind it to close or open your roof. The roof will move, but very slowly.Saab was very thoughtful to have this feature.

The first thing to check is the roof is actually secure. Somewhere there will likely be an electrical contact that makes and breaks when the roof is up. This will activate a circuit which will tell the computer the roof is up thus allowing certain operations to be executed (in this case the heated rear window). Over time these sorts of connections can corrode.

yes there is a manual winding mech. i think under around rear seats, thats where the relay and fues are for the auto roof, normally its quite easy to get the motors working on mech, you need multi meter , fuses and a psare relay.

Sunroof on a 2003 ford expedition won't close

I have just repaired a similar problem on a 2003 F150 crewcab sunroof. It opened and would not close. Pressing the switch to open made a click(no bad fuse or breaker.) Pressing it to close made no noise. I checked the switch with a VOM, it was fine. I used jumper wires to reverse polarity on the motor leads (purple and blue) between plug from express open module (black box) and motor connector (excluding limit switch.) I was hoping just to close the roof until Monday. Pressing the switch made the roof closed perfectly both ways (no problem with regulator or motor.) I focused on the limit switch in side the gearcase on the motor. The grease was melted and had swamped the switch with oil. I cleaned the limit switch with electronic cleaner and reassembled the gearcase, paying close attention to the alignment of the sequencing cams (there's a window to check the marks.) With everything hooked up and the headliner back in place it seems to work perfect.
Thanks B

Saab 2004 9-3 Convertible

Had same problem, in the boot right hand side, behind the removable panel there is :
1 - a hydraulic reservoir which must be at correct level.
2 - a black box (stc) this controls the roof system,
switch ignition off then pull the 2 connectors off for 30sec then reconnect.
This worked and hope this resolves your problem
