Question about Chrysler PT Cruiser

1 Answer

First, I want to thank you for your assistance. I asked a question regarding a 2005 PT Cruiser last week that was making a popping noise when the brake and gas petal was depressed. You had stated that this model of car has a rack and pinion steering assembly and that the noise I heard could be from any number of things and went on to name what those things could be. Well I did take the car to the dealer and low and behold I had two broken rods. The repairs have been made and the car is once again popping free. You were correct on what you had said and I thank you for taking the time to answer my question!!! Now, on to the other question... While the car was at the dealer having the above problem taken care of, I also had them determine why the dashboard display was no longer illuminating. I was told it was because three of the six light bulbs were burnt out thus they needed to be repaired. I okayed the repair, but when I got my car back I noticed there were about 7 tiny verticle cuts on the leather that surrounds the display housing. This morning I also noticed that the display housing is no longer seated tight as when I touch the right hand corner it has in/out play. I can not conclusively say that the seven verticle cuts were not in the dashboard prior to the repair as it is possible they were there and I had never noticed them before. Was it necessay to remove the dash to replace the light bulbs and could the damage I noted caused by the dealer?

I did take the car back to the dealer and showed them that the display was not seated into the dashboard correctly and the verticle cuts that are now on my dash. Without batting an eye, the manager stated that "we have a company that can fix that" and has arranged to take care of it this coming Monday. He did not say who was going to be billed for this so I will let you know the final out come after Monday.

Thank you for your comment Rob.
