I had to change two brake lines I can't get the brakes bleed up

Hi Rusty, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair

Rusty, sometimes after replacing brake lines its very difficult to bleed the brakes without a professional bleeder. You can buy one at Harbor Freight and it will help you. The other thing is sometimes the proportioning valve will not let you bleed the rear brakes, so you must bleed them in the front first to pull the valve to the center again. If it will not center then you'll either need a new valve OR you have a restriction in the system somewhere. Hope this helps and please send people to my auto-repair-website to check out my satisfied customers at: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

When trying to bleed the brakes on a 1998 ford windstar, i get pressure on the passenger front and driver rear, but not on the passenger rear or the driver front. Why?

Sounds like the safety valve is not centered in its fixture. What happens is the system has diagonal braking control which is used to prevent the complete loss of brake fluid. This shuts off the wheel that is losing pressure from complete fluid pressure loss One front wheel and one diagonally opposed rear wheel are used so that the car will not pull left or right when stopping.

The situation may clear if you attempt to bleed the brakes using the longest line first and progress to the shortest line last.

Where is the bleeder valve for 2007 s550

You need to remove the front wheels and the bleed valves for the front brakes is on the top of the brake caliper at the back of the wheel.
If you have not done brake bleeding before i recommend getting a garage to do it.

Put in new calipers and brake pads but I am getting no pressure on the passenger side front brakes. Tried bleeding the brakes but I am getting nothing from the bleeder on the passenger side, no air or...

it sounds like you are having trouble with one of the centering valves
trace the line back to the valve if it is off to one side most times you
eather have a broken brake line or air in the line but the centering
valve tells all

The brake light is on on my 1987 Chevy Truck. Its from the proportioning valve, not the parking brake. Is their any thing to check, or just replace the valve?

The proportioning valve simply ensures that the front brakes are applied before the rear brakes are, to prevent sideways skids from loss of rear traction. The valve also serves as a warning light when one end, either front or rear, of the system has deficient line pressure. Inside the valve is a cylinder, and a piston that belongs in the center of the valve cylinder (when fluid pressure on each side is equal). When one side of the valve (front or rear brake system) loses pressure (like from a leaking brake line), the piston gets pushed to the low pressure end and makes contact with a switch terminal that turns the light on.The trick to turning the light off is to figure out which end, front or rear brakes, the piston is on, and then bleed the other end to center the piston and turn the light off. Too much pressure on the brake pedal will cause the piston to go past center to the opposite end, and a close watch on the brake warning light will reveal that as the lamp will flicker once while the piston passes center.
Gently depress the brake pedal (requires an assistant) with a bleeder open and close the bleeder as soon as the assistant (brake pumper) sees the light go out. If he sees the light flicker once bleed the other end of the vehicle to go back towards center.

I bled the brakes in weel sequence on a 94 chevy suburban.and the pedal still has excessive travel a simi soft feel and 70% braking braking ability and the abs light & brake light stay on.what coud be...

Brakes are a pain. It sounds like the Crossover valve is not centered and you are using diagonal braking with only 2 wheels. Since 2 wheels are shut off, you need to bleed the fartherest rear wheel. If you have a helper you can have him/her pump the pedal and feel for movement in each wheel.

The rear side that does not move much still needs bleeding. The diagonal front brake that is paired with that one back wheel would be bled next. That should center the Crossover valve. As soon as the valve is centered the light should go off.

Sometimes you need to crack a fitting on the Crossover valve to get it centered. If the repair was for a broken brake line or a blowout on a Brake piston, that wheel and the diagonal wheel on the opposite end of the vehicle would be shutdown and the Crossover would be on that side. Just crack the fitting on the opposite side of the valve and the Crossover should float back into place.

I am having a problem bleading my 2000 grand pris brakes. check all the brake line no leaks but when i bleed the brabe pedal coes to the floor. i have also bleeb frunt to rear and rear to frunt.

This is a two person job. You have one push the brake pedal to the floor and hold it there. Then the other opens the bleed valve until brake fluid comes out. Close the bleed valve and have the other person release the brake pedal. Repeat. Continue doing this on each brake bleed valve until there is no more air coming out of the lines at each bleed valve just a solid stream of fluid. Fill master reservoir back up with brake fluid as needed through the process. You bleed from farthest to closest meaning from rear to front.

Driver side brake not bleeding properly after bleeding left side and changing rotors, calipers, and pads?

first of all make sure master cylinder is full of brake fluid.then you crank car leave foot off brake pedal. watch abs light on dash it should turn off in 10 seconds if not have car towed to garage or dealer. they have to use a scanner to scan the abs brakes if abs light turn off in 3 seconds. then starting bleeding from master bleed the lower brake line fitting at the proportional valve followed by the upper brake line fitting. keep eye on brake fluid in mastercylinder dont let run dry.next prime the abs hydralic modulator.connect the bleeder hose to the rear bleeder valve on the modulator.place the other end into a container partially filled with cleab brake fluid.make sure the end of the hose is submerged.open the bleeder valve slowly about 1/2 to 3/4 turn have an assistant depress the brake pedal and hold it in the depressed position. when the flow of fluid ceases close the bleeder valve.repeat process until no air bubbles are present in the fluid.then tighten the bleed valve securely. start bleeding brakes. your bleeding sequence is right rear - left front - left rear - right front.WARNING IF ALL FAILS YOUR BRAKES DONT FEEL SOLID AND FEEL VERY SPONGY.DONT DRIVE CAR. HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.THEY WILL HAVE TO PRESSURE BLEED YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM.

I need to know how to bleed the brakes on a 1999 chevy blazer

Start from right rear, then, left rear, right front, left front. Fill master cylinder. Have helper sit in car, have helper hold brake pedal down. open bleed screw. fluid and air comes out. close screw. release brake pedal. Continue until no air comes out. Move to next wheel. Keep an eye on master cylinder fluid level after each wheel.
