  1. Step 1 Determine how the bulb is accessed: On some models the lens (the red or white plastic part over the light) must be unscrewed from the outside, and on others the bulb is accessible only from inside the trunk. If there are no screws on the lens, you can assume that the bulb must be replaced from inside. Usually there will be a plastic cover that must be removed in order to access the bulb. I have a 1998 Mazda Protege and when the headlights are on all lights work including the rear tail lights. When I press the break pedal the 2 rear lights go out completely except for the center (window)...

It is very likely that you have a bad break switch. It is usually located on a bracket right behind the brake pedal bar. A new switch is generally $30 to $45, and only takes a couple of minutes to change.

I hope this helps.

Right read blinker/break light dont work, turn signal blinks rapidly

It's the bulb. There are two filliments in the bulb. One is for when you turn your lights on and the other is for breaking and blinker flashing. When the break filliment goes bad it causes the blinker to flash very rapidly. 100% the bulb. Change it and all will be good again. P.S. if it were a fuse none of the break lights or blinkers would work.

ALL BREAK LIGHTS NOT WORKING

Have you checked your brake light fuse? If it is good do your rear turn signals work? If you have turn signal and no brake lights it is probably the turn signal switch these are a common problem and your power for your brake lights goes through your turn signal switch. Sometimes it is actually the hazard switch that melts but this can not be serviced alone. If you have no rear turn signals and no break lights it could still be the turn signal switch but is more likely to be a wiring problem in the rear usually trailer wiring T connections. Chiltons has wiring diagrams in there manuals but they are not always accurate. Let me know if I can help you further and please rate.
