is the security light flashing when the key is turned on? if so you have a security issue and not a fuel pump problem. the ECM shuts off the fuel injectors so the car won't start. the ignition fire is still good so the car runs on starting fluid. check the light and then email me with more info.
you need to sort out if fuel or spaark issue. Can you hear fuel pump in gas tank run for 5 seconds when you turn the key to ON? Spray a burst of starting fluid into the throttle body or bgi air intake hose and see if it starts for a few seconds. If yes, then you have a fuel issue, maybe need a pump. Need to drop the tank to do that though. Check for 40 psi of pressure first.
If not, then it could be no spark. bad crank sensor, cam sensor, etc.
Is the yellow check engine light on too? If yes, get codes to find cause.
Does it stay running after you spray it or just die out ? If it stays running it sounds like time for a tune up. If it just dies out you may need a fuel filter replacement or a fuel pump replacement.
You may indeed be a bit low on fuel pressure. This one needs a minimum of 60 psi to start properly and usually if you are just a pound or two low on pressure it will be difficult to start when the engine is cold but will then generally start ok the rest of the day as long as the engine is still a little warm...but the problem will return again as soon as it cools fully. It may also be taking too long a time to build up sufficient fuel pressure to start at any time so I'd have someone test the fuel pressure with a good, very accurate, gauge as that may tell the tale on what is happening. Good luck with your problem, hope this helps a bit!
thats normal. if car died, its either spark or fuel. spray some staring fluid in the air filter box. 1 second sqirt, it it runs and dies, its a fuel problem, ck fuel pressure.
Replace the idle position sensor. If you can't get the car to an autoparts store for a code. if it is not the IPS then it is probably the Fuel Pressure regulator or the Crankshaft position sensor.
What about the fuel filter????? Have you changed it out??? If you can spary something like a started fluid, that means it is a fuel problem. My last check, it has to be above 50-psi on the fuel pressure to make it run right. I had 35psi, but whould not get over 30mph or down hill maybe 45mph. Check both filter & pressure, but check pressure with a New fule filter!!!!
