What is your question ? If you have aftermarket tires or struts, may need to put back what the manufacturer recommends.

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE rear tires and struts scraping

struts frozen or not will not control how close the tires are to the strut. The tire and lower portion of the strut move of one. The compresson/rebound point is about the strut base

SOURCE: rear strut almost rubs tire

It can be a bent strut or just an alignment issue.
first if you can put the car on a left or jack stands(on the rear but not on the suspention) you can then loosen the 2 bolts at the bottom of the strut at this point you can move the top of the wheel out. then tighten the bolts lower the car and see if that moved the wheel enough. is it did get an alignment and if not replace the strut.

SOURCE: Will the tire size 235/40/R18 fit on my 2000 Oldsmobile Alero?

Take your Alero to any reputable tire dealer and they will assist you in hopes of selling you something. Just tell them you want an estimate and that you want to be sure you won't have a rubbing problem with this change.

SOURCE: tire shop says tire wear is due to bad rear struts

you need to replace only the shock cartridges.  Also have the tires rebalanced.
When you receive advice from this website you have to understand that without the item in front of us, we are only able to provide "a best guess" as to what the problem might be based on you description of the defect.  If you haven't described a clear and precise description of the defect you decrease the chances of an accurate reply.  Thank you.

SOURCE: My back tires are rubbing

There are a couple of things that can cause this. worn parts used for aligning the rear wheels can cause it (they're kinda like tie rods, but don't tie the wheels together) or, the wheel bearings are going out. neither are extremely expensive, but are very important. The wheel bearings are the most likely, as they will allow the tops of the tires to tilt towards the inside. Jack up your car so that the rear wheels are off the ground. Can you make the wheel wobble all directions(even if only a small bit)? If so, then you need to change those rear wheel bearings.

Smoking and burning rubber smell coming from around right rear tire

ok jack up the right rear tire look at the inside ot the tire as you slowly rotate the tire also look for any signs that something is rubbing against the tire. if you must remove the tire and check to see if the spring in the strut is broken and rubbing against the tire. I ran into this problem before and the spring in the strut was broke shifted against the tire and caused it to rub the tire causing smoke. let me know we will keep trying to find the cause

If anything, you need better rear springs. Springs support the suspension not the struts. Struts just keep ride smooth and stable. Get bigger/heavier duty rear springs.

I put all season radial size 225/60R16 on my car back tire on driver's side rub's on bottom of strut.

Has the vehicle been in any accidents on that particular corner of the vehicle may possible have a bent rear strut? Do you know if the rear camber is out of manufacturer spec Does the tire look like it leans in to far? GM did not provide a rear camber adjustment for this vehicle but cam bolts are available to correct some of this adjustment another option is elongating the one of the holes in the strut where the lower strut bolt attachs to the knuckle to provide adjustment. Would take this and have an alignment performed to see if if the rear adjustment can be corrected with suggested methods.

Rear strut almost rubs tire

This sounds like either a wheel bearing a bent axle or an alignment problem, the alignment shop will check all these before they do anthing with the alignment.

RUBBING NOISE

check to see if the rear tires are making contact with the rear struts or springs, sometimes if you tow a heavy load with these cars it bends the spring perchs down and they rub on the inside tread of the tire, also be sure you have the right tire size on the car please rate -jeff
