Question about Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

I strongly don't think the pump is the problem. The vehicle was doing the same thing before a brand new oil pump just put in, thinking that was the issue. This is what I am experiencing.... after a minute of the vehicle idling normal I observed the oil indicator light inside the vehicle fluctuate up, down, up down, then stay down at Low. Shortly after the knocking starts so I would cut off the engine to prevent damages. I also change the oil and install new oil filter.

Oil pump is just doing it own job: helping pump circulated inside moving part. The oil indicator reports what it receive signal from the oil pressure sensor.
If your oil pressure's sensor is bad, it always reports the bad readings in the indicator.
When the engine is at idle you can open the oil cap to see if oil splattered. Knocking can be from other reasons.
Hope this can help.

Is there some thing I could put in my engine

All 'liquids', (coolant, windshield washer fluid) and lubricants, (engine oil, transmission oil, rear differential oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid), that go in a vehicle are very specific to the job. Some like steering pump fluid has to be the right steering pump fluid out of a choice of 15 types.

Unfortunately, you don't say where you think you might add this 'liquid'.

My 2003 mercury mountaineer wont start it's saying low oil pressure and power shut down and something bout my fuel cap how can I fix it what is the problem

If your vehicle has low oil pressure then it usually means either your oil pump sending unit is bad or your oil pump is bad. If your vehicle shuts down with low oil pressure because it's designed to do that then I'd start with test the oil pressure sensor and or wiring to it, if that tests good then, I'd run and oil pressure test on the engine. How many miles? have you kept the oil changed regular or is it a whenever you think about it type thing?

Fuel cap could be loose, the rubber seal could be dirty causing it not to seal properly or it could just be wore out and need a new cap.

Changed the head in a 2000 chevy venture as soon as van starts low oil presure light comes on. Did oil change and put in new oil pump still low oil light on. Help

Two things I can think of. did you prime the new oil pump?. If so the oil pump by pass valve may be stuck open. I often prime a pump with petroleum jelly as oil often leaks out .

My dodge durango won't start. We first took out the old starter then put the new one in but the starter broke because we tightened it to much I think. Because when I started the car it broke. So I

Hello and welcome to fixya... Dilyn,

Nature sides with the hidden flaw...
More likely your REPLACEMENT starter was
already fractured (they are pretty stout/strong)...
((TAKE it BACK)).

If the VEHICLE has been sitting (is seized) ... PROPER
treatment would be to put a shot of PENETRATING OIL
into each cylinder... and allow to sit...
Radiator Specialty Co L104 Liquid Wrench Amazon com
(repeat as necessary: CONSULT on that)...
Only move by hand...!!

Assuming this is an OTHERWISE untroubled
vehicle (regularly used):

FIRST thing I would look for... is the real reason
the engine is not moving...

LIKE... mark all your wires... (cylinder number)
and remove the spark plugs... MOVE the engine
by hand. If so... RESTORE THE STARTER...
(no reason to OVER-TIGHTEN (excessive torque)).

WHILE you are THERE...

Check the oil & water for cross contamination...
If everything comes up roses... Put it all back together

Give it another try... Hope this helps.

I think the headgasket is bad. it will turn over and everything but just wont start. i was push starting it for about 3 days because the alternator was going out. the last time i tried to drive it right as...

without a good look i dont think i could help as yes iam a europeon mechanic but a VW is a common enough vehicle here but iam thinking cam belt here but ?? yes it could be head gasket as the oil light switch is on the head top back left side and if the gasket has failed then it could be pumping oil into piston and not going up to the head to put the oil light out ,I would strongly advise you ask a local mechanic to put his head under the bonnet and give a second opinion from on the job .

Car keeps blowing a fuse while driving and wont get gas when it happens. possible wiring problem to fuel pump. where can i get a diagram for the wiring and does a 93 olds cutlass ciera have a in tank...

Yes the fuel pump is in the tank. The fuel pump relay is the first thing to check. Not to expensive, just put a new one in.Check all wires under the hood, and under the vehicle from front to back to see if there is a bad, torn wire harness.Think if any thing has been added to the vehicle where screws may have been put in,they could have cut a wire going in.Look for naked wires touching any thing. The fuel pump fuse can be part of the ecm also,so don`t just pinpoint fuel pump wire harness, sensors switches, etc, can be on the same circuit. If you have wired in a radio,or something similar, this could be the problem, maybe an over load to the circuit,so look for that also.If all this is fine, and you have changed the fuel pump relay out with a new one, then replace the fuel pump.If I can help, let me know.
