I would change the fuel filter for starters. Then I would change the fuel pump as it seems that you do not have any fuel pressure. The pump diaphram may have failed and should be replaced.

Hi people, please does anyone know where I can find an adaptor or base plate to fit a 32/36 Weber onto my 1998 Accent 1.3 and is it true that the Mazda B2200 adaptor would work?

Isn't your Hyundai Accent 1.3 fuel injected?

My 1985 mazda rx 7 1.1 gets glowing hot where exhust comes out of the motor , replaced exhust pipe and muffler but didn't help have any suggestions

Hi,
Check the ignition timing.
Make sure the fuel you are using is specified for engine use.
Last one will be to check the catalytic converter if it still open.

Hope that helps!

1985 jaguar xj6 has been sitting for over one year. will not turn over, but wants to. should the feul be added to carb. also since sitting so long what else should be some tips for the initial start up.

You might be able to pour a small amount of fuel in carb. A little at at time to get it primed. Once started get some fuel system cleaner into fuel to clear out any condensation and build up from sitting. Other things - do an oil change, check steering and suspension bushings, replace fuel filter, pull and visually inspect spark plugs, let car fully warm up before attempting to move - let transmission fully warm up and change trans fluid at earliest convenience, Make sure tires are safe- pressure and check for weather cracking and flat spots. Check all belts and hoses. This should get you started.

My hyundai excel wont start unless i pour water on top of engine (black plastic doodah). how or what do i replace? thanks paul

Hi Paul

I'm very surprised pouring water onto the engine makes it start, if anything you are pouring water into the sensors, electrical wiring and surrounding the spark plugs. Water and electricity shouldn't mix, ever.

Check the distributor cap for any cracks - replace if there is.

Check a spark is getting to the spark plugs by holding an HT lead (one by one) to the engine block, crank the starter and if you see a spark that lead is OK, repeat for the other leads. If there is no spark, change the coil or coil pack.

Once you have established a spark then it could be fuel related. Check the injectors are wet after you have pumped the gas pedal. Hold the throttle wide open and try and start the car, if it starts then you timing could be out.

Adjust the timing with a timing gun.

I hope this helkps you and please vote for me and please don't pour any more water on your engine :)

I have a 85 mazda rx7 1.1 it floods so bad that it leaks ( it pours ) trough the catalyst and the muffler

Hold the gas peddle to the floor when starting. The carb does not add fuel until the engine is running. Don't pump it as the accelerator pump will pump fuel each time you do it. Cause of problem is your float inside your carburetor is not seating correctly and "dribbles" fuel while your pump runs. Basically it is leaking inside and needs rebuilding..

Can't start flooded(?) car

Yes there is ,press the accel pedal down all the way and hold it there while cranking ,this will put the ECU in clear flood mode and it will stop injecting fuel .Don't crank it for too long as you ma damage the starter motor .

1985 diesel after sitting overnight will not start

The check valve is a small brass fitting where the return line attaches to the filter head. I believe it takes a 7/16" wrench. There is a 'duck bill' inside that prevents fuel from leaking back to the tank causing air in the system. It should allow flow in only on direction. Some times you can see light through it if it's bad enough. Also, the lines between the injectors can dry out and start to leak air. Air will leak in before fuel leaks out, and you won't see it. There are plastic, cup-shaped connectors for these hoses that press onto the top of each injector. They are sealed by two o-rings on each injector body where it meets the connector. These o-rings can dry out and also leak air and fuel. Your Ford dealer or diesel service professional should have the proper o-rings. Any other o-rings might not seal, as they won't be the exact size. You already changed the fuel solenoid when you replaced the pump. It is inside. There has to be battery cranking voltage to it while cranking, and battery voltage with key in 'on' position. The wire attaches to the top of the pump. This is not likely to be the problem, since it restarts every 2 hours.
