I had a tune up on my 2006 pontiac van it hesitate service light comes on.the code number is p0304. how do i fix it will it mess up something.

The code is a cylinder misfire in cylinder #4-it could be a bad coil, bad sparkplug wire, bad sparkplug, a problem with the fuel injector, or a mechanical internal problem like a valve in #4 not seating properly. With that cylinder not running at optimum, you will experience hesitation.

If not taken care of, yes, it will cause further problems. Gas mileage will suffer, unburnt gas may wash into your oil sump, emissions will be high, the catalytic converter may get damaged through contamination, oxygen sensors may become contaminated and need replacing- the list goes on. Do have it checked-it might be a simple fix, but it should be taken care of.

Problem bad hesitation when cold

You should change all 4 O2 sensors, it will run better :)

Also check your compression. Not enough compression on any one cylinder will cause oil blow-by and cause it to fail emissions. Also, the EGR valve can cause the same symptoms.

Seems as though you've got it covered...Try adding "SeaFoam" ($9) from Advance Auto Parts and add it to your gas...drive for at least 100mi. Good Luck

Check EGR valve this controls idle speed it might have carbon build up hold the valve open. All so check fuel pressure.

Perfect Idle, no Codes, but stepping on gas causes hesitation

i would try cleaning mass air sensor, its mounted in air duct between air filter and throttle body, they sell the cleaner at auto parts stores, also as stated bofore make sure the intake pipe clamps are tight and it's not cracked, if that doen't fix it i would investigate a fuel pressure problem either a weak pump or problem with regulator

ase mechanic:
this engine the 4.3L has problems like this due to cap seal. sometimes the rubber seal isn't in the box with the new cap and doesn't get put on. therefore causing condensation inside cap and hesitation. unfortunately i see it on astro vans where i have to removed the engine bay cover inside the vehicle.
On another note sometimes wet spark plug wires will cause same problem
