Question about 2005 Mercury Monterey

Low air tire warning still on after new tires.

2004 Monterey: had tons of slow leaks with the original tires, kept having to take to dealer to repair and re-set the dash warning.

Just about a month ago I got sick of it, and purchased 4 new tires (not the same kind as original)....better/quieter ones too. The dealer forgot to re-set the low tire warning, and it's been driving me crazy. Wondering how to re-set myself ??? Sure, I could take in to dealer and have them do it, but now it's the principle of it - I'm determined to do this myself. Thanks for any advice. MEL

Push the Setup button three times, until your driver display says something like "Press Reset for system check".
Then push Reset. The system check will start, rotating through a series of checks.
About the fifth or sixth check will be the tire pressure. It'll say something like "Hold Reset if tires are OK". While that's up, hold the Reset button. After 3 or 4 seconds, the tire warning light will click off. You need to be ready for it, because you don't get very long.

I've had this problem with my Monterey mini-van as well as my Jetta. I've been told that the problem is a build up in the interface between the tire and the aluminum rim. A corrosion effect. When I replaced the tires on my Jetta the tire dealer cleaned the rim and I have not had a problem so far with that car. On the mini-van, I gave it a shot of fix-a-flat and that stopped the slow leak.

Either someone is letting the air out of your tire or it has a leak. Obviously the shops you have taken it to are incompetent if they can't find a leak. A good shop will submerge the tire and rim in a vat of water and look for air bubbles. If you have alloy rims, occasionally the rim may have "porosity" where the air bleeds out thru the center of the rim between the tire beads. A good rim shop will have sealant that is sprayed or brushed on the rim center to seal it.

I have a 2006 VW Passat and the Low Tire Pressure light came on. I put air on the tires and the light went off but it came back on the next day.

Check the tire pressure again, including the spare. It's quite possible that you have a tire with a slow leak that may need to be repaired. Hope this helps.

2004 4 runner: Low tire pressure warning light is on, even though there is no tire pressure issue. Is this a sensor problem? or maybe the light is not working?

the senors tell you if the tire is low or even if the tire is not low if the tires are off a couple pounds from each other then the light will come on.

Tire pressure is okay, but Tire Pressure Monitor System warning won't go off..why?

The tire air pressure sensor in the tire may have gone bad, that's the reason when you get a tire changed at the dealer they will replace the sensor for a new one. The old ones go bad after a few years, can recall what there life expectancy is but there is one. Good luck and hope this helps.

Unknown warning light

I suspect this is a low tire indicator, mine drove me nuts when I didn't know what it was till a buddy of mine told me. (my tires did not even look low to me). I would be willing to bet that the company that did your oil change was nice enough to put some air in your tires. Doing so, your light went off for a bit, but the slow leak is now getting low again and you will need to get it patched/plugged/repaired or filled with air again to get the indicator to go back out.

How do I reset the low tire warning message/light?

With the 2005 Monterey, you need to activate the system check by pushing one of the command buttons on the lower dash right of steering wheel. Have it do a system check where it will cycle through the various things that it monitors (i.e. door, lighting brake lights, ect.). It will come to the tire pressure and ask if you want to reset it, simply push and hold the reset button and the light will/should go off.

That is the tire pressure monitoring light. Simply air up your tires and it will turn off. If it comes back on then you may have a slow leak.
