Its not hard at all to do just jack the van up and put it on a jack stand then remove the wheel after that remove the two bolts that hold the caliper on to the bracket set the caliper aside then remove the two bolts that hold the bracket on they maybe realy tight now take hammer and tap or in some cases bet the rotor off replace the rotor then put the bracket back on be sure to use blue locktight on the bolts so they dont back off good luck

Nissan sentra 2.0 2009 The front wheel disks must be changed after 23 000km. Nissan says that the warranty does not cover this type of defect. Should I pay, or cancel the contract. Car does not meet...

Who do you think will win that debate, not you

If your upset give them the car back

Can you afford that ?

When a car comes off the assy line, those brake parts
are bone dry & subject to problems

Your not told you have to be a mechanic by hobby or
profession & take them apart to lube them, but you do

Just as you have to remove spark plugs when you get
home for a number of reasons

Dealers perform no work what so ever
They wash it & take your money

Those rotors should last 3 years min IF you take them off
once a year & clean off all rust & lube where necessary.

Then they can be machined & last for 3 more years

Brake parts are not covered under warrantee but in your
case they can use common sense & just do the right thing

So it is a little you & a little them

Try another dealer

My 1998 ford escort brake peddle started pulsing and then a noise. Checked fluid, not down any fluid, and no leeks, just feels like I can not stop well., No ABS lite til yesterday, then it came on after...

Normally a "pulsing" brake pedal means that that you have a warped brake rotor or the brake caliper is lose. I would start by taking the front wheel off and inspecting the brake pads and the rotor. If the brake pads are worn down bad replace them. Pay special attention to the brake rotors also as if the are grooved very bad, they should also be replaced.

1995 suburban the whole truck shakes when i apply the brakes and the pedal seems to pulse as it slows to a stop. I have changed the front pads calipers and rotors. no change ?

Now, did the mechanic even suggested anything about MACHiNiNG ur ROTOR brake disc before putting those brake pads? U got UNEVEN brake disc and needs MACHiNiNG to equally level the pads grip to the rotor! Do it i'm very sure of it! Taaah!

Is it best to replace the rear brake assembly -pads,rotors,calipers all at the sane time ?

Normally, unless the caliper is not functioning or leaking brake fluid you don't have to replace it.
Replace the rotors and pads only.

I have a 2006 F150, that needs a front brakes job, I bough the pads, but they told that I need to buy the hole rotor is that true

You do not need to buy the whole rotor, unless your rotors are shot.
Most brake places will not change brake pads unless you also have your rotors machined or replaced, which makes them about $250 in extra profit... go figure heh?!
anyways, its a good idea to machine your rotors when you replace your pads, they will work better, they will last longer, and you wont feel any movement in the pedal when you are hard braking.
If your rotors are shot, you will need to get those replaced, if you ignore bad rotors, you will eat through your brake pads in a matter of months or even weeks, you wont have half the stopping power you should, if you need to brake really hard it will feel like you are going 40mph on a giant washboard, and you risk your brakes catching and being ripped off the calipers, or ruptoring your brake lines and loosing all your brakes.

With your old brakes, if you didnt feel your pedal bounce up and down really bad when you braked, you should be fine, although it is recomended, if you cant afford it, you cant afford it. But, might not be easy to find a mechanic that will just put the pads on and not make you at least machine them... but you wont find a mechanic at all that will put pads on a rotor that is going to become a risk, so hope your rotors are good enough to work, if you dont want to replace them.

Replacing the rotors on a 300 what are the steps that should be taken I hear a griding noise like something is lose please advise

Are your pads warn out ??
Is it metal on metal ?
If you can not determine if you pads are warn out - you should not attempt to replace pads and rotors yourself..

Rate well ;o)

Vw passat brakes! please help!

get your brakes done at a local tire place and not the dealer.  It sounds like you need a new mechanic.  Got to cartalk.com as they have a list of good mechanics in your area.

BRAKE PADS

OK Jin, 1st I'd like to know if u know what kind of shape the brake pads are in, are they wearing evenly, (inner and outer, and both wheels) are they grinding metal on metal? If everything is wearing evenly, and u haven't gotten to the point of metal pads (brake lining worn off) grinding on the rotors, u can probably get away w/ just changing the pads, although to do a quality job, you should also remove the brake rotors, have them cut (ground down perfectly smooth and flat) by an auto shop (about $18 each in my area), and bleed the brake system to flush out the old fluid so u have new fluid in the system. You also may need calipers if break pads are not wearing evenly. Let me know condition of brake pads and other above questions, and I can give u more info. I'll be on the road tomorrow for 15+ hours tomorrow, so be patient for a reply! countrycurt0
