2005 nissa maxima dosent have much power while driving its on pedal goes down then it jumps and car power kicks in

It may "jump and go" but it's because the transmission downshifted and you get the sensation of more power.
First step? Need history: mileage, last tune up, is the check engine light on, etc. I'd suspect a partially plugged catalytic converter but without more info we're running blind.

Does the catalytic converter has anything to do with the transmission

catalytic converter part is part of the exhaust system, torque converter part of transmission.if catalytic plugged car will only go 10 miles and hour, if you have torque converter problems car will stall out when you drive 30 miles and hour, when transmission goes in over drive, torque converter lock up.when you apply brakes torque converter suppose to unlock if not car will stall out when you come to a stop.

No go when i get to 40 mph in my jaguar

Not sure of Jag year, model, etc. but many times this symptom is caused by a clogged catalytic converter. A free inspection at most exhaust shops. Also, be sure to properly check transmission fluid...car running, fluid warm...inspect color and smell of fluid too. Hope this helps.

My 2000 Nissan Pathfinder runs good when first starting up but as it warms up it begins to sputter when accelerating and the rpms jump, but does't get good acceleration. I've replaced the fuel...

Change your plugs and run a couple of bottles of injector cleaner through it. Sounds like you have some carbon buildup. Also check the catalytic converter for excessive back pressure. i hope this helps.

Our check service light is on and when tested it comes up as a problem with the catalytic converter. We have 135K miles on the car. The transmission also slips from time to time. Is it worth fixing??? ...

With the two problems you have I wouldn't think it wouldn't be worth fixing. Those are both expensive problems. Especially the transmission. I would maybe try changing the transmission fluid and filter, which might help with the slipping, and not too costly to try. And maybe get a few estimates on replacing the converter, if your not in California, you can get a universal converter for around $100.00.

Replace muffler, not the catalytic converter which started to rattle. Stop running, will crank but will not start. can it be the catalytic converter.

if the converter is rattlin then it needs to be replaced because the element inside is broken. if the jeep still does not run try removing the catalytic converter to see if the restriction is too much. should start if the converter is restricted. if it doesnt maybe its whatever caused the converter to go bad in the first place
