Question about 2003 Mazda Protege
The idle in my car seems to drop a few hundred rpms while in stopped at lights, it also gets worse with the more electrical things turned on. so ive come to the conclussion that the alternoator is going out. so i tested it out by starting it and the unhooking the postive end of the battery and turned on the lights and it died, so im pretty sure its dead but anyone got any thoughts? thanks
If you are really thinking that the alternator is the problem have it properly tested. This will test the ripple and the output. If the ripple isn't right then that means a bad alternator. You would have to either take it to a shop to have the test done in the car or take it out and bring it into your general purpose car place, i.e. checkers. It could also be added resistance in your charge back wire to the battery.
