I hope some one can help me. I bought this 87 ford ranger with a blown clutch. I installed a new kit and i know everything was installed correctly; however the clutch appears to be disengaged. What I mean is that the new clutch does not transfer power to the wheels and rolls on every gear as if it had no clutch at all. I have bled it every which way without any success.
Even when the truck is running you can shift the gears without pressing the clutch but there is not power transfer to the wheels.
I have read that I should have replace the internal slave, but I thought that it would have worked the apposite, that if the slave was bad I would not be able to shift it. Well, right now its like it doesn't have a clutch at all.
Well, your read right you should have done an internal slave. Its just one of those things that you should do with the clutch. Maybe I didn't read right but did the truck move before you bought the truck. If not then it could have a problem with the shift fork. Even if it feels like it went into gear that can just be the detents your feeling. I had a Ranger where I had to bleed the system about a half dozen times to get a good feel too.

Man to be honest, I saw no fork inside the bell housing. Just the throw out bearing in the shaft sitting on the slave. i did not remove the slave, so i don't know what is behind it.
the truck was running fine until the clutch gave out. After the clutch went out it would not lock into gear. OK, blown clutch, right? But even with the new clutch there is no locking of the wheels and it appears to be stuck in the open position as if the bearing is pressed against the pressure plate. The pedal feels good after bleeding the system but when the pedal is pressed all the way down, you can hear clicking inside the bell housing as if the bearing is riding the pressure plate. that's the best I can describe what I am hearing.
Have you tried opening bleeder & pulling/prying fork to release the clutch,(engage)?
