Question about 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Seat belt is locked.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it has been a decent vehicle until recently when the rear center seat belt has locked. Does anyone know an easy fix to this problem or will I have to buy a new seat belt.

If the vehicle was involved in an accident, the belts will then lock up permanently, requiring them to be replaced. Might be what's wrong with yours since they don't usually go bad in pairs, unless in an accident.

You can unbolt the belt at the bottom under the seat. Its kinda hard to get to. Its connected to the left side belt release. Once unbolted you can replace the part. Or if you want you can atleast get it to release by letting it go all the way to the top. The only problem with that is the problem will come back.

you need the car on level ground and try to take tension off the side that retracts however you can. hold it there a few seconds and try to slowly move the belt. good luck

For the seat bottom, you just need to pull it up. The seat backs would have to be unbolted.
