Question about 1999 Toyota Corolla

1999 Corolla. engine still running when key was removed

For the past few months, my car will not start as soon as I turn the key. I just hear a little click. By the third time, when I turn the key, the car will finally start. Today when my car started the engine was making a funny noise. I turned off the car, yet the engine kept running. I removed the key and the engine was still running. I drove the car home and by the time the time I arrived home, i was able to park the car and this time the engine did stop running too. I stopped on my way home to Canadian Tire to see what the problem was. However, by the time I got there, I had no problem with the car. So they could not do anything. I am taking it to the Dealership to see what the problem is.

99 voyager starting problems

Your ignition switch is going bad. The strange noise is the starter remaining engaged and locked to the flywheel. Your best bet is to have the starter tested at your local auto parts store, to deduce that it is not, in fact, your starter.

You need to attach a pressure gauge to the schrader valve and measure the fuel pressure with the key on and also while running. You need to see about 40 lbs in both cases.

2000 silverado wont start

one good way to check that the fuel pump is running to listen. take the gas cap of and put you ear the the fuel tank fill neck. have a freind turn the key from the off position to the on position, but do not start the crank the engine over. you should hear a huming or wizzing sound for a few short moments. if you hear that sound the pump is running and more thatn likely pumping fuel.

1994 corolla cranks but, won't start, and blows a 15 amp fuse of some kind

There is a possibility this could be your fuel pump fuse. Without current the fuel pump will not pump fuel and the engine will not run. Can you be more specific about which fuse is being blown? The fuses in the engine compartment are identified in the diagram on the fuse box cover. If this is not legible, take a picture and post it here to identify the fuse. The fuses in the inside compartment are identified in a diagram on the fuse panel door.

Does the fuse blow as soon as you turn the key in the ignition, or does it blow after you crank the starter?

Try this: turn the ignition key to the on position. The fuel pump is right under the rear seat on the passenger side. If it is running you will hear it humming. You can also hear it humming from outside the car. It will run even with the engine off, but with the key in the on position. If you do not hear anything, the fuel pump is not running.

If the fuel pump is not running it could be due to a number of causes. Could be a faulty pump, or faulty wiring, or faulty harness. You will need to diagnose the cause with a voltmeter.

1999 toyota corolla. Car would not shut off went

I assume the car is a petrol! to stop a petrol engine the ignition needs to be shut down! if there is over run happening there are a few reasons for this. There is a problem with ignition mudule! spark plugs coked up! or the cylinders are coked.
If the car is a Diesel model then the reason for this happening is the shut off valve on the fuel pump is at fault.

Hope this helps.

New fuel pump

Sounds like a after market pump? I did the same thing.Go Ac/Delco for the best case.Note no sound no fuel.Try the old turn the key on and give the tank a kick. This kinda kick starts the pump.Idone this a few times. If you are stuck and your pump stops and it did start by kick don't stop the engine till you are home or a shop.

1999 Toyota Corolla CE. For about 2 months, the engine does not start immediately. I need to turn the ignition key several times until it starts. Each time when I turn the key, a clicking sound happens...

it sounds like either your having a short at the starter or the ignition switch is bad, I am leaning towards the issue being the starter, usually when the ignition switch is going bad there will be no click,
