2002 Blazer LS Stalled out...turns over but will not start

I think I have a fuel pump issue. It was replaced in March 2009 but I think its bad already. I was driving and the car stalled at a light and would not start again. Today I tried to see if I could hear the pump when I turned the key but I didn't. I got under the truck wiggled some of the fuel lines and the wires to the pump and then I heard the pump begin to "buzz". The truck started but stalled after 5 minutes and the pump stopped making any noise once again.

Do you think I have a fuel pump issue or a connection issue? Should I replace the pump again with a new one? Is the job pretty easy to do myself? I have some mechanical knowledge. What tools are necessary other than what is needed to drop the fuel tank?

Thanks for any assistance.

You probably have wire problems seeing that when you wiggled the connector the pump starts to run. There are no extra tools required.Check the wiring for power to the pump with a test light. Power should be present for 5 secs. with key on. Power should be present when cranking engine.

2009 nissan versa stalls and stops after stop and go city driving or, 30 plus minute highway driving

Hi Kathleen, I'm glad to help!

Kathleen, I can tell you this because I work at a dealer myself and through the years when a problem comes in like yours and we can't find anything wrong its because whatever is causing the issue is not setting a code. There is only a few things that can cause a problem like yours and not set a code. (1) Fuel pumps can cause intermittent problem but will never set a code. After running for a while they will simply stop working but then after sitting a while will cool down and work fine again. (2) Exhaust issues. After the exhaust system has a lot of years and miles on it, the debris inside it can restrict the air flow and in some cases cause the vehicle to die and run poorly after a restart, but after sitting awhile the debris falls back down and the vehicle runs fine again until it happens again. NOTE: I'm not saying that either of these is your problem BUT, you have to start somewhere. Your only other option would be to let it die until the check engine light come on and then you'll know for sure it has set a code. After it sets a code then the dealer should be able to find your problem. The problem is that if its one of the issues I mentioned it will never set a code. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Kathleen.

Suv stalls between 45 and 65 mph, already changed plug, wires, coil, and ran a fuel injectiong cleaner! check engine light comes on and off, reads miss fire cyl 1, 3, 5

Spark plug wires will last 20 years in most cases
Spark plugs never fail to fire, they are replaced at 60,000 miles,
not over 3 years, regardless of milage.
Injector cleaner is useless and a waste of money.
How would 10 oz in a 15 gallon fuel tank fix anything
common sense.

Now you diagnose your drivability issue
Retrieve the code,if any, that set the check light,
proceed from there.

You stated a cylinder misfire,so you already know your problem
Coil pack, Coil -On-Plug,what ever you have on your vehicle.

The stalling is another issue, unless the misfire is so bad that it
spikes the computer, comes back on the TPS Sensor and the vehicle
goes into failsafe and shuts off. Still bad coil issues.

MY 1997 GMC sierra 2500 diesel stalls. you can be doing 70mph and it stalls sometimes restarts right away sometimes not.. You can be driving around town and it stalls also. sometimes it restarts right...

Purchased a new gray Standyne Fuel Solenoid Driver kit with heat sink and extended wire harness. Mounted on left fender well and was able to do the work myself in about an hour. No need for injector pump work. Solved stalling issues and it starts up easier as well. These are all over ebay. Very common issue with this engine, and the GMC knuckleheads knew about it and didn't do anything to educate dealerships on a permanant fix.

Car randomly stalls when i stop or even while i drive

It sounds like your fuel filter is clogged or your fuel pump is going bad. When this happens see if you can hear if your fuel pump is running. Turn the key forward to the run position and listen near the gas tank. you should hear a vibrating sound. If you don't hear it at all the pump of pump relay is bad. If you hear it continually your fuel filter, pressure regulater, or fuel line have problems.

Stalling at lights

Did you replace the fuel pump because of the problem? Or did the problem start after replacing the fuel pump? If it started happening after you replaced the fuel pump, take it back to the place you had it repaired (or if you did it yourself take a look) and ask them if there may be a loose connection or a leak that might allow air into the fuel system. Also, replacing the fuel filter might fix the problem as well.

Stalling out ~ over heating ~ no A/C

Hi, I just had the very same situation on a '90 New Yorker. The fuel pump has gone bad in your car, have it replace and that should take care of it. As for the A/C, yes, that could be a different challenge. Don't let the fuel level get below 1/8 th of a tank. Fuel is what keeps the fuel pump cool.
