I wish to remove the hardtop on my 300SL. The roll bar is down and the car is in park, I pull the switch back and the light only blinks. Can you help?

Sounds like an interlock has failed, hard to tell which one. Also check the fluid for the system. Go to Benzworld.org or peachparts.com for more user specific help. Better than this forum usually.

It should be done within 60 seconds from starting the car while applying the hand-brakes, foot brakes, and the gear should be in "park".
so if your car has been idle for some time you cannot do it. switch off then run your car on again and it should work. if that doesn't work, it might be a minor fuse problem, to know so, try the wipers if they do not work (they share the same fuse with the top mechanism and folding mirrors, if you have that option) you should check that fuse.
good luck!

Did you set your parking brake? Owner's manual requires this be done. This may be an interlock solution

Car wont start and rolls backwards even though it apears to be in park

Sounds like the shifter is stuck in reverse or drive since it will roll.
I would set the parking brake and have someone watch the shift lever on the transmission to see if it and the shifter inside is still connected.

New neutral saftey switch car rolls in all gears

Has anyone checked to see if the shifter is connected to the transmission ? Sounds like something broke between the two components. If the trans is in anything but park or neutral the engine will not crank and the car will roll.

I HAVE A 1995 M B 500 SL THE SWITCH INDICATOR FOR THE TOP & ROLL BAR STAY IN A BLINKING POSITION. THE TOP, POWER WINDOWS AND ROLL BAR WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL... THANK YOU

The control module has set a fault and it will have to be reset. They are sensitive to voltage & must have 12 volts to operate properly.
The windows and top will need to be resync. I cannot find any information regarding the diagnostic procedure for the roof .. it states there is a procedure to diagnose the fault with the number of flashes the switch makes .. a dealer may be your best option on this fault .. I hope this helps some.

ROLL bar malfuntion. Roll bars will not go down. Is there a reset button?

This system is designed to release the roll bar from the actuating rams due to input from the axle(suspension travel) sensors in the rear of your vehicle. More than likely your roll bar system released the bar and it sprung upwards. You have to hold the roll bar switch in the up position until the rams travel up and lock back into the bar. Once they lock back in the system will be operational again.

How do you remove the door panel?

This panel is held in by plastic snaps. After all the screws are ou it pops off not a sliding type. Hopefully your window rolls down it is easier. !st take the plastic cover off of latch mechanism in rear of penal On the seat switch you'll find the top wooden portion pulls off grab from the bottom. then there is a bracket that unscrews and the seat switch wood pops out. next open the armrest and you'll see a plastic cover held in by a small black screw. remove and then remove the big screw behind it, I believe there is also a screw in the front of the map pocket and possibly 2 more in the center. pop out the light at the bottom of the panel and un clip wire harness. Next pop pout the top side view mirror cover. I believe there may be a couple of plastic grommets on grab handle that pop out giving you access to the screws. Next pop off the door panel by grabbing at the bottom and pulling outwards. be carefully because there is a vacuum line attached to the map pocket lid locking mechanism. once panel is loose un clip vac line and electrical and grab handle linkage. you should then be able to remove panel completely. i do not have an sl in front of me so look very carefully for any screws I forgot to mention. This is the best I can do from memory. good luck

Clk top will not go back up seems dead..all fuses checked

It is normal for the roll bar to rise when top is down. It seems like the rear valance cover is not secured and the soft op does not understand what position it is in. There is a way to manually close top. it is stated in your owners manual. also I would try to close top with button(assuming your vehicle will start and the battery has good voltage) start car and try to operate top down and try pushing on rear cover also make sure the retractable cover in trunk is extended to compress operation switch
