Either the fuel pump oil pressure safety switch is shorted or the witring to it or the fuel pump is shorted.

Broken trip gauge on 1999 chevy blazer

There may be a blown fuse causing the trip meter failure and quite possibly the gauge reading failure. since you didnt say if they went out at the same same it is hard to say but checking the fuses is a likely culprit for the first problem. it is entirely possibly that you fuel guage just stopped sending the signal up to your guage. this is known to happen usually only remedied by replacing the fuel pump as it is part of the wiring on the pump itself. that is unless that fuse is the reason it is bad. the other thing is the possibility of a broken/shorted wire that provides the signal from the pump to the guage good luck

Dead spot on fuel pump of 2000 GMC Jimmy, I just replaced it not even a year ago.

a dead spot is a dead spot nothing you can do about it.check to see what the warranty is on the pump it maybe covered.if not replace it other wise are you going to throw the truck away just for a pump and you won`t get much to sell it especially when its not running.this sometimes happens with electrical, think of a new light bulb you just put in and it burns out shortly afterwards.

probably just a dead fuel pump, but there was a campaign on this car several years ago the wiring harness were it goes threw the floor of the trunk were building to much Resistance and it was melting the plug and then the fuel pump would lose it power supply and the fuel tank sending unit would make the gauge go to the full side and stay there. hope this helps

2000 Astro, I replaced fuel pump a month ago. Worked fine. Now gas guage is not working, just hangs down below E. Where is the dang fuse, so I can check it? I have the owner's manual, I don't see a listing...

It sounds like a problem with the fuel gauge sender unit which is usually combined with the fuel pump. Since you have just replaced the pump, check the wiring connections at the connecting plug.

Possible fuel pump??

What is the year, make and model? One thing you can do to see if the problem is the fuel pump is to hook up a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail located on the top o the engine. The valve that you hook the guage up to loos similar to the valve stem on a bike tire or car this will tell you if you are getting fuel pressure or not. Another common problem is the fuel pump relay which can sometimes go bad. This is usually located near your fuse block and they cost around $20 dollars depending on which application requires them. Keep me posted.
