Please give year and engine size as well as more detailed info on why you think there is a short, the the common problems with blazer are the fuel pump is shorted, the other is the fuel pump cut off oil pressure safety switch is defective or the wiring to the switch is shorted or otherwise damaged.

2002 blazer has tbl starting and staying started. It has been thourly tuned up by reliable mech. also when trying to start it seems to temoparily short out battery

You sure it seems to be a battery/electrical issue? Blazers are known to have their fuel pump go out after about 8-10 years. If it starts but won't stay on....thats not a battery issue. Its either fuel, oxygen, or the alternator.
