Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier
THE ENGINE IS A 2.2L WITH AUTO TRANS. AT IDLE TO ABOUT 50MPH THE ENGINE HAS A TICKING NOISE. SOUNDS LIKE VALVE TRAIN NOISE BUT NOT SURE. THE HEAD HAD BEEN PULLED AND REBUILT PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING THE CAR, BUT I HAVE HEARD OTHER CAVALIERS THAT HAVE THE SAME SOUND WHEN IDLING. IS THIS JUST NORMAL FOR THESE? ALSO WHEN IN GEAR WITH THE AC ON AND IDLING THE ENGINE WANTS TO STALL. IT HAS STALLED A FEW TIMES BUT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP WITH NO HESITATION. I HAVE FOUND THAT A LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE THROTTLE WHILE SITTING ELIMINATES THE STALLING. THE ENGINE ALSO IDLES UP WHEN THE AC IS TURNED ON SO I KNOW THAT THE COMPENSATOR IS WORKING. ANY IDEAS ON THESE?? THANKS.
There is a wy to limit it on all of them by changing the grade of oil
what you need is a lighter wieght oil!
also get it tuned as te idle is one of the first sings that it needs adjusting [out of tune]
