Question about 1993 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes Benz Sl Class

1 Answer

Mercedes 300sl intermittently runs rough

Have changed ht leads plugs and airfilter. Car starts well, runs initially well, then on low rvs stalls and will not accelerate. Seems to be once car is warm and at low revs. No power on acceleration, but then clears and runs again well for a short time. I am thinking lambda sensor may be in need of change. Anyone any ideas please ?

Change your MAS Mass Air Sensor this will exhibit the problem you have if it is dirty. You can try cleaning it, yet it is normally easier just to replace it

Mercedes Benz c230 w202 is have misfire so how to fix It when I run the car after 50 to 100 meters or sometimes during the starting get to misfire and I was change the fuel pump but its still misfire, any...

This car has coil packs which connect to each spark plug.the spark plugs sit deep under the top cover and need a special plug spanner to remove as the access is narrow and deep.

first check the condition of each plug....replace which the correct type ....make sure they are the correct not over tighten just a quarter turn after they car engine .....if it still misfires then you need to replace the ht leads ....swop them with a new set.....if still misfires then it's the coil packs which are the most expensive part of replacement.i sourced mine on eBay.hope this is of this is electronic ignition the misfire is most likely due to 1. Dirty plugs with incorrect gaps....2.faulty ht leads.... 3. Faulty coil packs....4. Incorrect timing.

We have a 1999 Mitsubishi gallant , we have a miss fire when ever its raining out ? what could be causing this to happen

misfiring is from plugs , HT leads ,moisture in the circuits and injector problems including low fuel pressure. use HT lead bridges to stop leads touching each other, clean out the interior of the distributor cap. ensure that the HT leads are pushed fully home in the cap and on the plugs . clean the distributor outside so the that spark cannot track through the dirt/oil.

Car was running a little sluggish, changed plugs and car ran great for 45 minutes then started running rough. checked ignition module, coil packs. all ok. replaced wires, ran better then started running...

Make sure the HT leads are secure. They might be popping off, causing it to not fire on one cylinder. I always change the plugs and leads at the same time to keep them the same age. HT leads break down rapidly and need regular replacement.

My car runs rough stalls in first gear and in revearse

think you have damaged the spark plug leads when you pulled them off ,they are only carbon fibre ,not like good old copper ones ,try a new set of leads ,also plugs should be 25th but some of the newer engines use a wider plug gap

Car stalls while driving at high speeds

i would start by checking the spark plugs and leads. if that ok i would think there is a problem with the dispack that the spark plug leads fit to, if its cracked or any rust i would replace.

Mercedes clk200 only fireing on two cylinders

There are several things it could be and not necessarily to do with the plugs.

1. did you reconnect the ht leads in the correct order? They must be in the correct firing order.

2. have you tested the HT leads for electrical continuity? The carbon powder type can breakdown easily.

3. Are the HT lead connectors ok? Make sure you have continuity.

1993 mercedes sl300 convertable

The early 300 SL suffered from dodgy HT leads and spark plugs if not regularly maintained, the problem with Mercedes Benz though is that the cars have so many features that it is almost impossible to diagnose without seeing the car. Some things to try (in this order) are : - Spark plugs, Ht leads, remove and clean Distributer Cap, replacement of HFM sensor (common fault), if none of these help then faults have been known in throttle valves and fuel pumps/filters

Happy fault finding
